Why must Keith Olbermann's show
contain 90% stupid stories? He said tonight "stories my producers force me to cover." Can't a left leaning host have an all political show like Joe Scarborough and others. Must be that liberal bias thing I hear so much about. As we are speaking he is covering some guy wrestle an alligator.

If he doesn't do that, he won't keep his job.

4. Keith needs to move-on from MSNBC.....
And would do great as a Koppel, Rather or Jennings replacement. The networks wanted "a Jon Stewart", and Keith is legit news :)

9. The mainstream media doesn't want him
Too risky. He might actually want to cover a story like the stolen election of 2004.

6. Geez, I don't know but I saw Charrlie Ross
perform his 'One Man Star Wars' show last year in Boston and it was friggin unreal. The guy looses about 7 pounds in sweat each time he performs it. (And it's great. I highly recommend it.)

Ahm, I know it's not political, but Ross is great and I appreciated the segment from Keith.

8. I think his show is a good mix of serious and silly...he suffers no
fools on any front, and the silly stuff is a nice break from the political stuff that makes me want to crawl out of my skin.

As our chimp-in-chief says, "I need to have some balance in my life".

12. Yes, Keith often apologizes for the fluff pieces,
and admits we need a break from the hardcore news. Nice balance indeed. And he's sensitive when to be funny too.

Not many people know he won't claim to be Republican or Democrat, he just prefers to use the "liberal playbook". His ESPN fans would understand that :)

10. I wrote and told them
my husband and I want NEWS!

We can always always watch the other cable shows for mysteries, disappearances, and assorted other non-news stories!

I urge everyone to write:

15. I think "90% stupid stuff" is an exaggeration.
For one thing, I need the comic relief of the silly stories, and for another, he did the best he could to roll all the "missing people" stories into one ball and get them out of the way.

Also, consider two of those missing people stories were about a) a non-white person and b) a non-gorgeous person. Both of whom were or are pregnant. Violence against women is a serious story, and in one case there is a boyfriend suspect. That's not a frivolous story and it doesn't deserve to be treated as one.

I would definitely pay good money to see the Star Wars guy.

I was even glad he had the anti-Sheehan guy on there and let him have his say. What we learned from listening to him talk is that he's amazingly inarticulate and has a terrible time speaking for his "movement."

13. I know
A little is okay but his show is the best national news on TV except for the Daily Show. I always turn KO off half way through.

Sense a pattern? I guess if they are funny it's okay to tell the truth because it's entertainment. We know the other shows are entertainment but those are with lies and fear.

Here's he tip sheet

Funny and the truth: Liberals

Lies and fear mongering to scar you shitless:Rightwing

16. Agreed on the tip sheet. What we really need is Bill Maher in
prime time! Surely Stewart and Olberman cannot be the only witty, intelligent voices of sanity.

18. I think for an anchoring news show, it's just about on target.
Look, not EVERYONE is as rabid about politics as all of us and MSNBC's goal is to draw viewers, so they provide a variety of stories.

Tonight's newscast was a bit heavy on the entertainment side, but there have been several shows that were very seriously bent.

Still, Countdown's the best news show on television, bar none.

Neither he nor Jon Stewart could say what they say in Amerika today if they were in 'serious' formats

21. Frankly he lost me on yet another individual killed....
re: white woman. Sorry, these are not national
stories...I know producers want to make them
national stories, but they aren't. Move on.

Frankly re-runs of the Gilmore Girls are on at
the same time.

I like KO and don't want to see our only somewhat
truthful Messynbc show go by the wayside either.

22. First of all, Keith's not a leftist and has never presented himself as one
If you're looking for someone to carry the Dem flag or the liberal flag, he won't do it. What he WILL do is shoot holes in hypocrisy and insensitivity wherever he sees it...and usually, he sees it on the right side of the fence, but not always.

Second, the only person reported "killed" on the show tonight was Figueroa, who is NOT white. The other woman, so far, is only missing. Come on, doesn't it count that she got covered despite not being a gorgeous blond teenager?

his show is one of the only Messynbc shows to tell
the truth and I like him and ordinary individuals killed, missing
or runaways aren't national news.

24. He's got a couple segments of odd and funny and entertainment news.
Usually, 4 out of the 5 main stories are top stories of the day.
