There you have it, folks--in the Bush administration dissent is indeed, treason.

Bush Believes Those Who Protest Iraq War Don't Want U.S. to Win 'War on Terror,' Spokesman Says

By E&P Staff

Published: August 23, 2005 11:30 AM ET

NEW YORK Meeting briefly with reporters Monday aboard Air Force One, Trent Duffy, a White House spokesman subbing for Scott McClellan, said that President Bush believes that those who want the U.S. to begin to change course in Iraq do not want America to win the overall "war on terror."

Duffy spoke on a day when a surprisingly large antiwar protest met the president during his stay in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he addressed a Veterans of Foreign Wars convention.

Speaking to reporters, Duffy said that Bush "can understand that people don't share his view that we must win the war on terror, and we cannot retreat and cut and run from terrorists, but he just has a different view. He believes it would be a fundamental mistake right now for us to cut and run in the face of terrorism, because if we've learned anything, especially from the 9/11 Commission Report, it is that to continue to retreat after the Cole, after Beirut and Somalia is to only empower terrorists and to give them more recruiting tools as they try to identify ways to harm Americans.

"So he believes that people have a fundamental right to express their views. That's one of the reasons we're fighting this war on terrorism, to protect our fundamental rights. But at the same time, he disagrees strongly."

1. This type of garbage has worked well for them in the past ...

2. That's why we need to invade and occupy Brazil. Right now.
And kill all the Brazilians--every single one of them. Because once we invade, people will resist the occupation. Those people will be terrorists. And the only way to fight terrorism is to invade foreign countries and kill all the terrorists. So what are we waiting for? Let's kick some Brazilian ass!!!

9. Pick another example country..Venezuela

Brazil is a little too big for the bully to even hope to conquer....

Besides, Brazil is so popular for its soccer dominance, the entire world would be mighty pissed....

I know this from personal experience. People are so undeniably nice when they hear you are from Brazil.

Well, I guess you can use this example... come to think of it, cause

I think we should invade Venezuela, its about the same thing and Bush doesn't like Chavez it would be a slam dunk!
HA!
:sarcasm:

So, let me see if I get this straight: Clinton "retreated" after the Cole and Somalia and Reagan retreated after Beirut. That "empowered" the terrorists and gave them recruiting tools. And that allowed them to identify ways to harm Americans...which they did under *. So * is blameless because Reagan & Clinton handed him a ticking time bomb with 3 seconds left on the fuse.

Got it.

5. What is it with the Cole?

What were we supposed to do immediately after the USS Cole? Would ANY Republican have authorized military action by Clinton in October 2000, just weeks before a close election?

13. Bush had nine months pre-9/11 to respond to the Cole, and did nothing.
So what the fuck are they talking about, exactly?

8. What a pathetic black and white mindset.

So... if this was say, a baseball game, it was the fifth inning, Bush's team was behind 100-0 and the coach says, "Ok, our strategy is not working, let's try another gameplan", he would think the coach was not interested in winning the game.

Boy, he sure must have been one lousy cheerleader!

11. Good idea...
I'm not much of sports guy, so football was the first to pop into my head. (and I also assumed when he was a cheerleader at Yale, it was for the football team...) but baseball is more appropriate...

The folks who didn't take to the lifeboats and stayed on the Titanic, believing that the ship couldn't be sunk, come to mind.
