If UK can deport "hate" preachers, why can't we deport Robertson?
Or is his message so powerful that we want him to stay to prove to Americans that the rightist fundies are not just creepy but dangerous?

4. Yep. He could be deported from the UK, but the US is stuck with him,
as he is a native son.

9. Is he? That would be the best news of the week
If we can confirm it, shall we start the clamour for him being tossed out?

6. We give free speech much more leeway in our country
If you'd asked me in 1999 if this was a bad thing, I would have said yes. People like Pat Robertson should be kicked-out or silenced.

But since November 2000, I have come to jealously guard what little freedom we have left. I do not want to take that first step down the slippery slope that our government is now more eager than ever to exploit.

So, although it gives me great pain to say it, I have to defend Pat Robertson's right to spew his nastiness without government interference.

We need to concentrate our efforts on the corporate world. Get the companies that broadcast him to remove him. We need to use "market forces" to take out the trash.

The last thing we want is the government deciding what is hate speach or not.

I'm sure they would count "Bush Lied, people died" as a deportable offense.

17. Because we have a Bill of Rights that the UK doesn't have
Even our lunatics are allowed to say what they want.

If Pat Robertson was kicked out for saying something that was considered seditious or traitorous, the current government could apply that same standard to the left.

22. Isn't he a natural born citizen? But, his words were a crime. We should
lock him up. We lock up people for no reason at all so why not lock up someone who has committed a crime?
