my favorite silly freep arguments
Paraphrased - but I'm sure you've heard them before in one form or another:

1. "You can't criticize Bush for lying when Clinton lied, too." (As if the lies were at all the same, and as if I thought it was just great fun that Clinton lied.)

2. "Well your guy (usually Clinton, but also often Carter), messed up X, Y or Z." (Assumes that all presidential situations are equal, and so the decisions made can be compared like some SAT score. Also assumes everyone against Bush loves Clinton and everything he ever did unconditionally)

3. "We are a free market economy, and gasoline is part of that, prices solely determined by supply and demand." (HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Oh crap, that's just not even funny....)

What are your favorites? Let's make this a top 10 list!

(It is interesting that I'm getting less defenses of Bush actions, and more "yeah, well other presidents have been bad, too." arguments.)

everything the admin. spews.

1. Iraq did too have a WMD program. The MSM is just not telling the truth about all of the centrifuges that were found.

2. How long would you want to waite until they were a threat? I love that one since in the time period of the Iraq war more and more terrorists have been indoctrinated to hate the US.

3. If you disagree with the war you dishonor the soldiers who have died and those who serve? Yeah like if we were not lied to about WMDs guess who would not have had to sacrifice their lives....

2. I don't know if this fits your criteria as an "argument"
Edited on Thu Aug-25-05 10:07 AM by BOSSHOG
but I got into a relatively civil chat with a man (much younger than me and he started the talk) at a local watering hole about the merits of our involvement in Iraq. I just wanted to drink beer and check out the barely covered breasts of the lithesome thing behind the bar. I gave my arguments against us in Iraq, he gave his pro arguments and got all "patriotic" on me and told me that if I joined the Army and went to Iraq to fight for our country I may not hate it as much. I then told the lad that I had served 24 years in the Navy which included one tour in a combat zone. I asked him to tell us about his military experiences. He had none. He never served in the miliary. Conversation over, he left. I got me another cold beer.

7. Oh she's a sweet young thing
A bunch of old farts hang there during the day, drinking beer, lying and overtipping. Occasionally some young punk (under 40) strolls in and thinks he owns the place. Gotta cuff about a bit.

13. That's a key Radical RW strategy... When they get caught committing...
...a crime, they say ALL politicians do it. Of course, what distinguishes their party is the fact that crime is systemic, whereas in ours it's an occasional isolated incident (can we say James Trafficant?).

Here is the come back that works for me always.

11. Anything that involves the phrase "liberal media" . . .
a talking point SO ancient and debunked, you have to just mockingly pat the head of any Repuke still using it.
