2. The best thing he say was "going to Iraq was a misuse of the military." |
|
Even as a Marine, he said the Marines were willing to go to a country and get rid of a bad guy." Well, we did that, but we stayed and occupied the country.

5. Iran far stronger today than it was when we went into Iraq. No surprise. |
|
This was said by the other man on with Hackett who has written a book about Iraq. He was very good, too. He said we went to "create a beachhead" in the Middle East, and the effort has failed leaving Iran far stronger than when we went in to Iraq.
Hackett said Bush wants out of Iraq, and that he needs to figure out how to get his ducks in a row to get out, and let him save face in the process, if that will get us out of Iraq.
He repeated that the war is over. We gave them Iraq's freedom, helped them write their Consitution, there will be disarray whenever we leave, and the Iraqis will have to sort it out and govern themselves.
Hackett has not made up his mind about running for the Senate in Ohio; he is concerned about being there for his children--mentioned his 8-yr. old daughter. I do think his wife approved of his run for the House.
