BACKGROUND
Chicken George was the name for a person in a chicken costume who shadowed
George Bush Sr. through a portion of the 1992 U.S. presidential election. The
media really picked up on the idea, which caused George Sr. considerable
embarrassment.
Bush Sr. first began being called chicken by Democrats when he refused to agree
to the debate format determined by the Commission on Presidential Debates.
THE NEW CHICKEN GEORGE UPDATE:
After President George W. Bush Jr. refused to speak with Cindy Sheehan, the new Chicken George appeared for the first time in Salt Lake City, Utah, Monday, August 22, with a placard saying:
"George: scared to meet Cyndy?"
CNN, Fox News, the two major Salt Lake papers: The Deseret News and Salt Lake Tribune all mentioned “Chicken George" in their reporting.
Tuesday and Wednesday August 23rd and 24th, the new "Chicken George" again appeared at the Bush protest in Boise. It was mentioned twice in the Idaho Statesman with a photograph, and on the local radio.
Reuters also cryptically mentioned the 1992 “Chicken George” today (Thursday).
Code Pink is planning to be the third “Chicken George” and protest the
President when he goes to Arizona next week.
We are attempting to get a new "Chicken George" in the Camp Cyndy Crawford, Texas protests also.
