Pat Boone: Cindy Hatin' Stooge of the Empire.
Pat Boone "Rock Legend" (????!) Blasts Sheehan And Protesters

"This lady and the groups that have been demonstrating in front of the president's ranch in Crawford and following him around are the very same people that were the dropout, turn-on, anti-war peace activists back ," Boone said. "They still have this crazy notion that by just being peaceful and maybe toking up or something like that – it's like an ostrich with its head in the sand – maybe the danger and the bad guys will go away and leave you alone, which is not gonna happen."

---------------------------------------

I know, I know, it's hard to watch one of your idols turn sour like a carton of milk.

But, it's time to throw away the Pat Boone Heavy Metal album. It just is.

4. Boone is the dropout...
He must still be living in the 60's to believe such a stereotypical view of this group. We aren't your father's protesters, Pat. Give it up, read a newspaper and welcome yourself to the 21st century.

Shame, really. I used to love that album.

from Mosul. Screw you, Pat Boone. You a-hole.

(for those too young to remember, "Love letters in the sand" was Pat's first big hit)

11. This is an old song from Pat Boone
I generally think better of Pat than most music aficionados, but he's been one of Jesus' little sunbeams since about 1960. And as such, he's said some remarkably hateful things along the way, including stating he'd rather watch his daughters be raped, tortured, and killed than to repudiate his "religion".

A lot of Fundies are like that -- they are unable to think clearly about political issues without having a brain melt-down. Such is the folly of listening to spiritual "authorities" who are vessels of hatred and political slime.

Let us all pray for Brother Pat.

17. Well, in the interest of being "fair and balanced..." here's a response:
Since that old puke wants to dredge up people's behavior in the peace movement 30 and 40 years ago, what could we say about bush's behavior 30 or 40 years ago (thoroughly marinated in booze and cocaine and serial bankruptcies), and shouldn't that be considered fair game, if we're going after the ancient history of anti-war activists now? Whaddya say, Pat?

....and Pat Boone was our commercial spokesman. Never met him in person, but I spoke to him on the phone a few times. Seemed like a decent enough guy back then. Now it seems like he's filled with all the same paranoid hatred as the Freepers.

28. Is he still alive?
I thought he was gone a long time ago.

Well, here's the dirt on Pat Bone-head. He lives in Beverly Hills. Has been a long-term fixture in that town. Mediocre success.

I believe he lost one of his daughters to anorexia. I recall reading something (maybe I was sitting in a waiting room at a doctor's office).

He said something to the effect like, "I looked at my teenage daughter's back, and her ribs were sticking out. She was so emaciated". He said he couldn't figure out how that happened.

It's sad, but a lot of times you have problems in religious-type families. One is called "MK's". = minister's kids. They're notorious for having problems.

41. While there's no scriptural basis to say Jesus was a stoner....
..there IS scriptural basis to say He created the plant......

John 1

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

And if JC made the plant, then that would include the THC in it. Perhaps the Rastafarians have been right all along.

38. On Pat Boone...
..first, he's always been a right-winger. He was to the right of Barry Goldwater in the 60's. He was a heavy RR supporter.

He wrong.

But unlike the righties I refuse to Dixie Chick him.

He's done some real nice work in his early years. Not the covers, but some great standard/blues albums.

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&uid=CAW060508280150&sql=11:zyev97i7krst~T2

He is what's both good and evil about organized religion.

He is very wrong here, but not a Dennis Miller type who changes with the wind.
