My email to Fox News....
"I have been a Republican for many years, and have voted for multiple Republican Presidents. However, when THIS Republican President attained office, I have been repeatedly disillusioned. The White House has lied to the American people over and over again. The lies are so frequent that it's clear that lying to the American people is a matter of policy. No where are these lies disseminated more gleefully than on Fox News.

I recognize the depth of my anger and the need to channel that anger to constructive purposes. Consequently, I have decided to boycott Fox News. I'm tired of the collusion between this Administration and the press that allows greater and greater crimes to be committed against the American people. This will not stop until the American people stand up and let those in the media know that we will not tolerate organized dissemination of Government propaganda.

Regretfully, I will never again watch Fox News.

Sincerely,"

I thought it was important to let them know why I will never again watch their network.

7. As a Dem who lives with a Republican
I hear constantly that this (mis)administration is not about traditional conservative or Republican ideals. (BTW, one that never voted for Bush Jr. & Co., that is) I congratulate you for articulating your feelings so well. In my case, my SO is also considering becoming a "former" Republican. I'm gonna pass on your letter to other Republicans I know--none of whom voted Bush Jr. & Co. I'll light a fire under them! You are not alone!

9. My mail to Fox
Fair and Balanced news? What an absolute joke. Your programming is the most shameless offering of right-wing propaganda and slander I have ever seen.

You may also wish to consider calling yourself the Natalie Holloway network, as you give her disappearance more coverage than the 1800+ dead Americans and countless Iraqi dead. I wonder how you all sleep at night promoting the agenda of liars, all the while wrapping yourselves in the flag of patriotism while questioning those that challenge this illicit war.

The more people who wake up and take action against media propaganda for the Government, the better off our country is.

21. "By all means!"
Done.

You have now been published in my massively powerful website journal, The American Choice, which has recorded an astoundingly modest number of hits since its founding a year ago.

So no fame and fortune but boy, am I proud to quote you there!!!

Let others know why you're boycotting Faux News. Some people are unaware of just what Faux represents. Have that letter published in your local paper and help open more eyes.

You did great!

14. I always mention that I am a registered Republican
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 02:23 PM by Contrary1
when I write letters, participate in polls, etc. It's good for them to realize that it's not just the Dems who are disenchanted.

(In Indiana, you have to register a party affiliation. Every election year I am counted as a Repub who "crossed over".) ;-)

19. Wow, I finally encounter another one.
I've been registering Republican for a few years now because in Oklahoma, the determination of who wins any elected office usually depends on the Republican primaries. This is a terribly sad state of affairs for my state, I know. I was born and raised here; and though I've traveled a lot and lived other places, I still love OK and have re-settled here again now that I'm retired.

But I am sick at heart at how my state morphed from a solidly Democratic stronghold to a "red state" the Repugs count on routinely in just a couple of decades. Well, maybe 15 years? Anyway, I didn't notice it happening ... and neither did a lot of other good Okie people!

But here we are, with Repug governors almost every time, and Repug senators and congresscritters out the wazoo. It just drives me crazy!

I am NOT a Republican, but I thought I'd try registering as one so I could at least vote in the primaries where our "leaders" get picked. I try to choose the ones who campaign rationally, are less extreme, and don't seem to be QUITE as much in the pockets of the Bushes, though it's not easy finding such people.

However, I have noticed one thing lately that gives me a LOT of hope. Republicans I bump into from day to day seem to me to be shifting their stances on "their" president. It's not a mass movement, but I do think the slippage in Bush support is substantial and is incrementally increasing. I always wondered how any American who is half-way right-thinking and cares about our country could continue to back that ... that MAN in the White House!

Now I'm seeing that a lot of regular folks in his own party are PULLING their support ... and it does my heart a world of good!

I say, "Yaaayy! Goodonya, Republicans who've seen the light!" :D :hi: Don't let the madness continue just because it's hard to admit you believed some lies told to you by leaders in your party. Speak up and protest the insanity!

And thanks, FormerRepublican, for your bold stance and that brilliant email to Faux "News" Channel! I hope they read it, and pay attention -- even a little attention. Now I think I'll use that email addy you provided and send them one of my own.

I'm a patriotic American and I'm so sick and tired of that network pretending right-wing, war-mongering Bushbots are the only patriotic people in this land!! Grrrr......

~VV

15. This is good. I also suggest going through this thread;
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2039206
Thread title: FOX VIDEO- Hannity eggs on guest who wants multiple world leaders murdered

This is truly outrageous and dangerous. John Dean - one of the great legal minds of the country - says Pat Robertson's calling for Chavez' assassination breaks two laws, one of them a felony, and this outrageous incident on Fox News was even more egregious. Read through the thread and you will see.

At the least, this is more ammunition for your letters. We also need to complain to the FCC and intiate procedures for prosecution. This cannot be allowed to stand. How long before some freeper nutjob shoots "enemies of the Administration" like Cindy Sheehan? It's the obvious implication from what what said by the guest - a Fox regular - and encouraged by Hannity.

20. My assistant at work is a former republican
In fact, he was a loyal Rush listener - a regular "ditto head" he says. That was before he started working with me. He's seen the light. This last election, he registered democrat for the first time and he's been a loyal DU'er now for awhile and laughs at what idiots Rush, Coulter, Hannity, etc...are.

People are waking up. Slowly but surely.

Welcome to DU, all you former repubs. :hi:
