How can pro-war Gold Star families remove the crosses? |
|
I mean, the cross is not their property. I would let them spray over the name of their son/daughter, but not remove the cross.

2. Ask someone with an opposable thumb to do it for them? |

Yeah, I know it was a lowdown crack, but really...

3. I agree. And the cross is located on private property. |
|
The landowner could forbid them to do it, if he so wished.
If they disagree with having their family member's name present, they should simply request removal, not stage a PR stunt. I can empathize with them and it's their choice, but I think it's OTT.

I'd hand them the piece of paper with their child's name if they want it and just replace it with Casey's name. I'm sure there are other Gold Star Parents there who would also be proud to have their child honored twice.

If a grieving parent wants to remove the cross, they should be allowed to do so. They may be terribly misguided, but they are grieving a terrible loss and we should honor their wishes. They will most like come around to our point of view when reality sets in and they realize this war was such a waste of human sacrifice.

5. I don't understand it either, but let them .. |
|
... they're in essence saying 'We don't want anyone to honor our son/daughter's memory/sacrifice'; and invalidating their child's death in order to prop up their own illusions of der Fuhrer's glory.
How totally farked up is that ?!?
Someday reality and regret will set in. I feel bad for them, because they're not only denying the truth, but also denying their own loss and chance to grieve/mourn.

7. The Peace Activists are kind generous people |
|
They have no intention of offending any one. Allowing the named crosses to be removed is a small price to pay for moral high ground and a little peace on the ground.

they should be able to take them.
Can you imagine they will throw them away once they have them? I can't. I think if they have the crosses, they will think about 'what noble cause' every time they see the cross in their house.
Perhaps Camp Casey should turn it around--offer the crosses with love and hugs to those who want to take their crosses home.
Replace the missing ones with plain white, that doesn't offend the family yet still counts and reveres the life lost.

and thoughts ~ I think the crosses should be empty of names, and then if anyone requests it, their loved one's name can be added ~ I have a feeling over time, those names will increase.
I think it's a good idea to give them the crosses also ~ they can be easily replaced ~
But we the people are paying for this war and are entitled to know what the cost is in the number of dead ~ I wonder how large an area would be required for crosses to remember the Iraq dead?

12. This is an excellent example of "better to give than receive" |

the pro-war faction looks like a bunch of petulant screamers and the pro-peace faction looks understanding and considerate. The Pro-war people are getting this one back in their faces.

Haven't heard much about this other than that poor woman with all the young sons who looked shaken and sad amongst the crosses.
Does anyone know?
