So, our 401 K's take another dive
As the Gulf Coast is hit. I can hardly wait until W pushes again for SS taxes to be invested in the stock market.

1. You're so short sighted!
You're short-sighted. What about the long term costs as we spend more and more to rebuild this area! Think about the debt we're piling up. If we don't reform SS through PSAs, then how do you suggest we avoid merely passing the buck to the younger generation.

2. I take it you're being sarcastic?
The original poster already has a "personal savings account" in the form of a 401k plan.

4. You are right
The 401K is a personal savings account.

There was plenty of money for Social Security when Bush took office.

3. At 9/11, I commented "there goes my 401 K"
My GOP friends assured me that war was good for the stock market.

5. yep the DOW will take a big hit tomorrow I'd suspect
From: http://www.kitco.com

Index data delayed 15 min.
DJIA 10,397.29 -53.30
NASDAQ 2,120.77 -13.60
NIKKEI 12,282.88 -156.60
RUSSELL 648.64 -9.06
NYSE 7,379.86 -54.70
TSX 10,484.07 -54.86
USD 87.59 -0.24
Crude Oil 69.86 +3.73

And it has a long way to go until 6:30 a.m. EST.

This event will start the upcoming recession/depression soon is my thought. Let's hope I am wrong.

:kick:

6. My partner saw this coming.
After our families evacuated, the next thing we did was pull all of our money out this weekend before everyone else thought the same thing. Today's market is gonna be nasty, I think.. all of those refineries shut-down.. yikes..

8. If your money is in mutual funds
the trade will go in at today's close of business price, so if there is a crash today, you won't avoid it.

7. But if it takes a big hit, think of the "dollar cost averaging"
you will be able to participate in! You don't know how lucky you are.
