Gephardt endorsing Kerry tomorrow? |
|
A pundit on CNN just now said that Kerry is expecting a big endorsement in Missouri tomorrow. I believe he hired Gephardt's former campaign manager for Missouri.

2. I think one of Geps people went to Edwards. |
|
I heard Kerry was getting the endorsementof Carnahan and/or Tom Eagleton. I thought Gep would wait until a clear winner emerges, but he may fool me again.

15. Yes, I saw that man interviewed on CSPAN |
|
this morning.
He was very close to Gephardt and has thrown his support to Edwards, however, he said nothing about Gephardt doing the same.

I wouldn't expect any less from the guy who blew the levee during the IWR resistance. House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, D-Mo., who helped negotiate the resolution and provided Bush with welcome Democratic support at a White House appearance before the vote (link) edit: quote & links http://idsnews.com/story.php?id=12359http://defazio.house.gov/101002DERelease.shtmlhttp://www.deanvolunteers.org/MassForDean/GephardtOneOnOne.htm

I think the whole insider and outsider issue coming from the Dean camp will hurt him getting endorsements.

13. Carnahan/Eagleton joint endorsement? |
|
If Gephardt joined it to make it a trifecta it would really be a big boost.

be Carnahan because I recall hearing Gephardt stating he was not endorsing anyone but the eventual nominee!

I've heard rumors about Gephardt and Jean Carnahan endorsing Kerry this week. Honestly, I can't figure out why these people would throw their support behind a guy who has absolutely ZERO chance of carrying Missouri in the general election.
It's funny -- for a long time, Dean supporters thought the "establishment" would conspire to deprive Dean of the nomination. But the behavior of the establishment is far simpler than that. They like to back a winner. And just as Dean was the odds-on favorite to win the nomination a few weeks ago, resulting in several big-time endorsements, now Kerry's the frontrunner. I just hope the voters in New Hampshire and the 2/3 states are able to think more strategically than the establishment does.
