If Mark Warner runs for President, I predict a win. |
|
Why? Because nothing rhymes with Warner (at least nothing the freeps can come up with). Can't do Scarey Kerry or Al Gore is a bore.
Without a simple rhyming slogan for freeps to chant, they will be confused, disenchanted, and will not vote.
I accredit this post to my wife.

IMO Warner hasn't a chance in hell. Isn't he another DLC type?

4. Well, he's a Bilderberg and a DLCer, right? |
|
I think we can still do a bit better.
"The establishment" has gotten us into this mess. We can do without them.

without selling out. But you are right he is kind of establishment, a Bilderberger, and a DLC'r I believe. Still the best Gov. we've had in a real long time in this red state (even better than the last Dem--Wilder)

I keep hearing this Mark Warner will win BS. But yet no one seems to know anything about him other than he is Gov of Virginia.
A once elected Governor to boot.
With no record. I can't think of anything he's done.
He's running a DLC type campaign. Yet, the DLCers seem to be supporting Hillary.
So unless something drastic happens. I don't seem him rising above second-tier candidates in the Democratic 2008 field. Like Bayh.
My 2 cents.

The US will be in bad shape in 2008, and a one term governor with no foreign policy experience will not fly. He must be running for VP.

Warner is not battle tested. Clinton will have the nomination if she wants it -- not that I support her.

9. I'm no fan of DLC types. |
|
But I'm a bit more comfortable with Warner than I would be with Senator Clinton.
Plus, it's pretty remarkable that he became governor in Virginia. I live there right now, and there are some parts so red that it's cherry-flavored. He has a certain likability without the perceived aloofness that plagued Kerry.
Still, I think we could do better. If it has to be a DLCer, than I hope it's him.

I'm probably leaning behind Clark more than any other right now, and I think Warner would make for a good enough running mate.
Not that I want to decide with 2006 the most important issue. It's just that compared to some of the other choices that come up, those two don't make me want to curl up into a fetal position.

15. If Warner ran for Senate against shithead Allen... |
|
...and won. I'd be singing more of his praises. But as of right now, I haven't heard or seen anything special about him. Let's not forget another once elected southern who went around saying he could win the south: John Edwards. He's chosen as VP and doesn't even carry his home state.
From what I see, southern voters sometimes vote one way in local elections and another nationally.
So Warner has to do better than say, "Hey I was once elected in Virginia" in order to win the nod.

18. Voters will vote for the candidate who stands for something... |
|
...that matters.
I don't know what Warner stands for.
Edwards is doing a great job of standing for something that matters. He's using his time out of government wisely, so far.

17. so what does Mark Warner say about Iraq and |
|
the War on Terror? What are his ideas on all of that? Does he support Cindy Sheehan, or he is just marking time till 2008 so that he can "wow" us all then?

19. Some real basic questions: |
|
Is he popular enough to persuade Virginia voters to elect a Democratic Senator or Congress critter in 2006? Will he work on this most vital issue in 2006 instead of on his own ambitions?
Can he whip a crowd into enthusiasm?
Is he comfortable with all social classes and in all sorts of situations?
Does he have an appealing, over-arching vision for the future of America? (Not piecemeal suggestions drawn from focus groups, a vision from which his platform flows organically) Can he communicate it and make the voters feel it? Does he want to run for president because he has a clear vision for the country, instead of just wanting to be president and being willing to say or do anything to get there?
If the answer to any of these questions is no, FORGET IT!

20. Oh, really? Mark Warner is a DLC candidate! I have decided... |
|
that I can not support a DLC candidate for President (such as Hillary, Evan Buhy(?), Joe Biden, Joe Liberman, Kerry(?); or any other candidate who is DLC; you see, I am a yellow dog liberal Democrat and those people who are running for Pres do not support my issues; therefore, I cannot support them monetarily(sp?),nor vote wise! They have lost me if they are supporting Dubya! I'm stressed when I read these Dems kissing ass of the Repubs! Not for me! They will NEVER get a penny nor a vote from me!

How can someone "stand" a chance to win, if you don't know what he "stands" for? Are we that far gone?
so what does Mark Warner say about Iraq and the War on Terror, the biggest issues that we will face in the next election?
Maybe he says nothin'....and that's how some like it. That's a leader for ya'.

I wouldn't be placing a bet on him.
He was pathetic.
George Allen may be stupid, but he ran rings around Warner.
