Bastard. How many people would have been saved, if the National Guard wasn't deployed to Iraq?

The terrorists don't have to do a damned thing. The Bush administration is so damned incompetent that it creates disasters all on its own.

Obviously, I'm not suggesting they created Katrina, but Bushco is responsible for the lack of 1) social supports that forced people to be stuck in the city 2) shitty economy that did likewise and 3) lack of troops to realize plans for prisons and such.

Actually, my brother and I, sick bastards that we are, were brainstorming after Sept 11/01 and this was something we agreed on.

17. I doubt it ...

It seems like the Bushevicks had their fingers crossed that the storm surge would do the job. But the storm dissapated and the city was safe. And hence there was no poll bounce to be had for Bush something as 'mundane' as a hurricane.

I seriously doubt the storm caused those levees to breach. The strom was passed. These weren't podunk river levees. Those were VERY seriously engineered levees that were meant to hold that lake back permanently.

A couple sticks of dynamite in the middle of the night should have done the job. No doubt done by people with Elephants on their lapels.

The Busheviks did everything they could to provoke a terrorist accident by crippling anti-terrorism activities. Why not help along a natural disaster that didn't deliver the punch they were expecting?

11. no power in New Orleans for 4-6 weeks
It's been in the 90's here all month. 20,000 sweaty pissed off people in the Superdome. Raw sewer flowing through the city.

There is not a place in New Orleans where Bush will be welcome. Other than maybe Vitters' house.

15. I'm wondering what is happening inside the Super Dome
I'm in the mental health care field and believe me I can almost guess what kind of problem is happening in there. It is not a nice picture folks. I work in a 14 bed unit for Psychiatric Acute Care,(Crisis) and we have all the amenities at our disposal, and believe me it gets really bad at times and tense, dangerous is more like it. Not all of the patients there are SMI ( Seriously Mentally Ill) some are detox from drug and alcohol. My point is I cannot imagine what is happening inside there with 30,000+ people traumatized, some mental, some addicts, others just trying to save themselves and their families, and all homeless now.

It's funny that he doesn't get much credit here at DU for his ability to connect to people. This is one of the things I like best about Bill Clinton. He is a man of the people and is at his best when he's in a crowd.

44. "making them feel human"
Gee, do ya think that just maybe, if those who went to the Superdome had been treated like HUMANS, instead of freakin' criminals, to be admitted, there might have been a little less mayhem in the streets today?

It was almost worse than trying to vote in some areas of Ohio... long lines, hours of waiting, in the heat, just so everyone could get the Full Cavity Search or thereabouts before entering.

Anyone bearing any prescription drugs had to have them in the bottles in which they were dispensed, and photo ID to prove the drugs were theirs. It was not about searching for guns, that could have been done fairly quickly like at the (shudder) airport. It was about humiliating and marginalizing those least able to defend, or take care of, themselves.

34. You aren't wrong unfortunately
The Main Water Pump in New Orleans failed and they cannot do anything about the Levee Breach on 17th and Canal.

They can't stop the water flowing into New Orleans now.

From NOLA.com:

All the water coming from Jefferson and Orleans will spill over from breech.

12-15 hrs.water will settle over N.O. at 3ft above sea level.

Meaning St. Charles will have 9 feet of water.

So if the Bastard does go, where the fuck is he going to STAND.

35. They are considering having Bush "feed" the hungry of NOLA....
and they are looking for the plastic turkey with trimmings he used in Iraq to feed our troops!

Just the thought of him taking Air Force One, using so much fuel, while NOLA is in such a dire state, just for a photo-op really gauls me. But I suppose he's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't, which is quite fitting after his support for cutting of funds for levee work.

I mean this seriously. He should stay in Washington, or go back to Crawford, I don't care...just stay far away from New Orleans.

Does anyone realize how much security he's going to require? How many precautions have to be made?

The local law enforcement needs to concentrate on saving lives, not protecting the idiot while he goes out in a boat with an American flag and a bullhorn.
