I didn't hear what the repukes intend to do about the increase in poverty
since they have been in power. I must not have been paying attention today what with the hurricane and all.

1. Well, I think demonizing them is a sure bet. That's probably
why there's a lot more emphasis on looting in MSM news than there is on the heartbreaking poverty, loss and devastation New Orleans is experiencing.

3. Going to be a lot more in poverty
who cannot afford to put gas in cars to get to work, heat their homes in the winter, or pay the increased grocery prices. That doesn't even include the already high costs of housing.

4. I'm guessing it's the same as always: If you're poor...
it's your own damned fault. That's the repugs party line; no reason to change it now.

5. Wasn't there something about the Bible and we have to keep poor
people poor? So imagine making more people poor is even better then just keeping the few that were originally poor from getting rich. I remember that argument years ago by some of the RW religious nuts.

9. Mission Accomplished.
Poverty rate rises to 12.7 percent

Even with a robust economy* that was adding jobs last year, the number of Americans who fell into poverty rose to 37 million -- up 1.1 million from 2003 -- according to Census Bureau figures released Tuesday.

It marks the fourth straight increase in the government's annual poverty measure.

*"robust economy" my ass.

10. Do???
They're supposed to DO something?

Silly boy, that is not how it works. Do something about poverty is not in the Repugs vocabulary.

Unless you are a corporation.

14. They have no plan.....
Because they could care less about the increase in the poverty rate. They only response they could formulate was that an increase in poverty usually follows an ecomonic recovery, and then the rate decreases.

I'm covering this on my blog:
