It isn't hard to understand why Bush is acting slow on N.O.
You just have to look at things from the Conservative Christian point of view and apply their logic.

1. As can be determined from the cable news video most of the people stranded in New Orleans are black.

2. It also can be deduced from the video that if they are still in New Orleans then they are poor blacks or they would have got out in the first place.

3. If they are poor blacks then that means they vote Democrat.

4. If they vote Democrat then that means they are not god fearing christians because as everyone knows real god fearing christians don't vote Democrat.

5. If they are not god fearing christians who don't vote Democrat then that means they don't believe in god, at least not the one true god, because all real god fearing christians voted for Bush because after all god appointed Bush to lead this christian nation through these troubled times of our persecution because of us being a christian nation.

6. If they are not god fearing christians who voted for Bush because Bush was chosen by god to lead the nation then that means we are better off without them in our efforts to re-build America to the christian nation that it was originally founded as.

When you understand these conservative christian truism then it is easy to understand why Bush is moving so slow on addressing the New Orleans catastrophe. It's what the freepers refer to as cleansing the gene pool. Which is a somewhat odd reference they make since they all know the evolution is junk science and that creationism is the real science of how man and the world began.

... which I why I don't think like that. And I understand you don't either, F-f-C. But I believe some do think like that.

4. What you say is so "HARSH" that many DU'ers will not agree with you....
but you DO make a point that many of us need to think about.

Feedom of Speech on DU is VERY IMPORTANT even if it isn't always "Politically Correct."

I think that you might be onto something ...but might not necessarily agree with you...but what you say is interesting.

9. And I fully appreciate your doubts
As any sane person would think the same. However, I would suggest that to assuage your doubts you should spend some serious time over at FR.

But then again, after studying this mind set for many many years, it really is not that far off.

22. They are extreme...and you presented what they say as a truth of
the way some of them are. I've only been over to freep sites maybe five times and I needed to shower and screw my head back on after being there.

I h some folks in my family with a mind set like those folks...and so going to those sites kind of is a psycho problem for me.

14. I totally agree with your belief. . .
Freedom of Speech on DU is VERY IMPORTANT even if it isn't always "Politically Correct."

But I had the most rude awakening just today (8/31) when my very first posting about a Coast-to-Coast radio talk show discussing that Katrina was the result of weather manipulation was nixed by some power-on-high here at DU. . .the Thought Police are alive and well over here.

What a chilling feeling I now have toward this blog. . .really creeps me out.

"mainstream" bypass. I don't know what you posted...but I understand the rules can be tight. One just has to find a way to frame it..with a few links and some skepticism.

...East St. Louis, MS? Bunch of rich conservatives who built their McMansions on the shores of the Gulf who took the brunt of the storm.

A good start say I.

Bay St. Louis was destroyed. It was where Katrina made landfall. You can see an aerial photograph here: http://terraserver.microsoft.com/map.aspx?t=1&s=15&lon=-89.344075140879&lat=30.2966646050969&w=600&h=400&opt=0&f=Tahoma,Verdana,Arial&fs=8&fc=ffffff99

ACT OF GOD DESTROYS NEW ORLEANS
DAYS BEFORE "SOUTHERN DECADENCE" 8/31/05

"Although the loss of lives is deeply saddening, this act of God destroyed a wicked city," stated Repent America director Michael Marcavage. "From ‘Girls Gone Wild’ to ‘Southern Decadence’, New Orleans was a city that had its doors wide open to the public celebration of sin. May it never be the same," he continued.

"Let us pray for those ravaged by this disaster. However, we must not forget that the citizens of New Orleans tolerated and welcomed the wickedness in their city for so long," Marcavage said. "May this act of God cause us all to think about what we tolerate in our city limits, and bring us trembling before the throne of Almighty God," Marcavage concluded.

" sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust." (Matthew 5:45)

Just send the bill to the people who take our taxes without telling us where they plan to squander them.

Send the Karma to the ones who decide to bomb sovereign nations.

24. ROFL! And where does Marcavage talk about Mississippi Gambling Casino's
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 10:24 PM by KoKo01
that took the money from the poor, and didn't give back to the community (because of offshore tax shenanigans & such) what they promised.

What about the "Mom & Pop" stores that were closed because of the Casinos and that they paid more than the local businesses could afford to pay...plus they brought in many out of state workers.

I understand why Mississippi needed something to help their economy since the days when cotton could no longer be their big cash crop...but sheesh...I did some reading on these casinos and it's kind of a mixed bag what it's done for the economy.

And..the evangelical Christians I grew up with were totally against drinking and gambling. It was a sin.

I guess their definition of sin sort of varies with how much money they can rake in for their churches and not what's in that Bible they are so fond of spouting and quoting their misguided and misinterpreted references from. :-(

7. It's also why we'll also be treated to videotape of young
African American looting stores. These will appear ad nauseam on CNN, Fox (especially Fox) over and over again, while the pitiful sight of mothers taking water and diapers gets little airplay. Remember, too, that Bush's brother is not up for re-election in Louisiana or Mississippi.
