Dean has made this statement calling on bush to rally his oil buddies for breaks on gas prices.. "Under the Bush Presidency over the past five years we've seen skyrocketing gas prices and oil companies reaping record profits, while ordinary Americans struggle to pay their bills -- yet the President has seemingly looked the other way. Americans are always willing to shoulder their fair share of the burden, and they have been. Now it's time for the President to step up and put the needs of the American people ahead of profits for his pals in Big Oil. So while he's asking ordinary Americans to do more, he ought to show some real leadership, and call on his friends in Big Oil to join in the sacrifice and stop gouging American families at the gas pump."http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x2051591http://releases.usnewswire.com/GetRelease.asp?id=52439

And anyone who reads MY posts knows that I am (dramatic music) Unity Gal!
No faking here.
Clark has blasted Bush for his response. Reid has pushed Frist to help the victims, not his rich friends. Dean has cancelled fundraising and stands ready to help. Kerry has sent out emails urging folks to give (though God knows we're all getting tapped out money-wise) I'm sure there have been others.
Not enough of a stand it may be said, but much, MUCH better a stand than:
1. "Chose to stay so it's their problem" 2. "They're the ones who chose to live in 'paradise'" 3. Golf, golf, strum, strum. and other heartless, soulless Republican responses.

26. So where is the opposition? Exactly where? The only worthwhile |
|
opposition I have witnessed has come from one mother calling out to us all about her pain regarding her dead son. Sheehan is the only brave voice I have heard. Conyers was good for a half a minute but he got scant support from his colleagues. A few flash in the pan moments by Reid and Palosi is completely ineffective.
Most of these politicos are bought and paid for by the business elite.

Clark on telly blasting Bush's leadership.
Reid telling Frist to pay more attention next week to the victims of Katrina and less on estate tax legislation to help his buddies.
Kerry, Edwards etc calling for aid.
Dean cancelling fundraisers left and right and saying "These are our people. Let's go help them" of the people of N.O. a very blue city in a red state.
As for the rest, it's not my day to watch them. But you asked for specifics, and this is what I've seen so far on the board.

But I'll bet Big Al has specifically ordered them NOT to call out Der Fuhrer. Along with the rest of the spineless sellouts.
