Head of FEMA said that he JUST found out TONIGHT that there was an
emergency situation in NO!!!!!!!!!!! Where has HE been? On Vacation? I'm so embarrassed for our country! All the big wigs keep telling us how many NG are helping...yet no policemen or NG soldiers were helping/protecting the people in the stadium. WTF is going on?
I will :puke: if I ever hear bush* claim to be a leader. Where is Dick Cheney? Isn't he our real leader? Is he too sick to tell bush* how and what to do? Who's in charge now?

1. Not sure, I think it was about not knowing about the convention center.
He didn't bother to find out where people were being held, so he's surprised to find out they're there.

3. And they are sending troops to Iraq instead of NO
My son is in the 101st Airborne. There are 15,000 soldiers in this division located at Fort Campbell, less than 600 miles from New Orleans. The mission statement of the 101st Airborne requires them to be ready to deploy anywhere in the world within 36 hours. They have Blackhawk helicopters; they have troops trained to repel from the helicopters into tight locations; they have pilots used to flying under fire into the worst of conditions; they have troops who know how to sling equipment and supplies to helicopters; they have supplies that they can air drop. And do you know what they are doing? The soldiers are getting ready to be deployed, not to New Orleans to help, but to Iraq to help create an Islamic theocracy. Their equipment and supplies is packed away on railroad cars and is being to ships, not to go to New Orleans, but to be sent to Iraq. They could have been in New Orleans immediately after the storm had passed Fort Campbell. God help our country!

5. I heard this on NPR tonight. The commentator kept asking him when food
water would be brought to those at the convention center and he kept saying that they were sending supplies to the dome and to selected places around the city and people need to go there.

The commentator said that their reporters counted 2000 people stranded at the convention center and the head of FEMA said that they have heard a lot of anecdotal stories when the commentator said that these were reporters that had seen lots of disasters and wars.

Then the reporter came on and told of the dead bodies at the convention center and that there were no relief sites set up. Then the commentator said they had just received a phone call from FEMA and that they received word that people were stranded at the convention center and that FEMA would be helping out soon. Or words to that effect.

6. I heard that - F'ng Chertoff!
Kept telling Robert Seigel (Sp?) that he hadn't heard anything about the convention center and that it was just a rumor, then when Seigel turned to the reporter on the scene, you could tell that both the reporter and Seigel were furious.

7. We have to sadly remind ourselves
that * puts people in these jobs because they are friends, or to pay back a favor, not because they know what they are doing. This guy, nor the first one he installed had any previous disaster experience.
Sickening, isn't it?
