Hurricane Cindy ... did she just get blown out to sea ??
"15 minutes of fame", "strike while the iron is hot", "get it while you can" ... all these expressions suggest that when the big media spotlight is shining on you, you have to give it all you can because when it's gone, it's gone ...

Cindy Sheehan "took the nation by storm" but she's no match for the devastation we're seeing coming out of NO ... and more hurricanes may be coming along soon ...

but Sheehan's cause is noble, she's a powerful symbol of the senselessness of this war, and i think she'll be able to rise again after the waters recede ... or perhaps the fickle media will have moved on to new distractions never to return ...

comments ??

1. The anti-war movement will continue. It is bigger than Cindy, it will go on
We will make it go on after dealing with the current emergency crisis. Peace

2. In spite of what some people say...
I don't think Cindy is a media whore. She knows this is a huge disaster and needs to be addressed. I was at Camp Casey on Sunday and everyone there was very very concerned about Katrina & its impact.

Also, 3 buses left Camp Casey yesterday and are on their way to various cities in the US, ending in DC for Sept. 23-25 peace rally. I know one of the buses will be in Chicago next week for a few days and lots of events (dinners, vigils, meetings, etc.) are planned for them. This is not losing momentum. But NOLA takes precedence as it should.

3. the fickle media focuses on only one story at a time ...

look at the coverage of

OJ
Clinton / Monica
2000 election
9/11
Elizabeth Smart
WMDs
Michael Jackson
Natalee Holloway
Sheehan
and now, another distraction to take your mind off all the other blunders - it's new blunder after new blunder!

4. Actually, Cindy set up gwb perfectly. Focus on his vacation and his
lack of compassion.

Katrina drove home the point, albeit tragically.
