If you think things are bad now-- |
|
A nightmare scenario to chew on:
What happens if there's a terrorist attack at a second major port? Something as low-tech as a dirty bomb in a shipping container in L.A. harbor, for instance? Or truck-bomb attacks on major refineries in Texas? Combined with the destruction of New Orleans harbor, such attacks could devastate the U.S. economy, and severely damage the global economy. Is DHS/FEMA ready for attacks like these? What are they doing to prevent them? If their "planning" and "preparation" for hurricane Katrina is any indication, we might all be well advised to start stockpiling canned goods and ammunition.

1. It's glaringly obvious that we are on our own, |
|
there is no one to protect us.
"America is safer."
People are dying here because we are fighting them over there.

It's now apparent that after years of warnings and billions of $$ spent in "preparations" the government's first response to any disaster is going to be "every man for himself." Just look at the mandatory evacuation last sunday in NO. What was done by the government to ensure people who didn't have transportation weren't just expected to ride out the storm and possibly die? How many buses lined up in the poor sections of town to take away people? None that I could see. The government's message was "you're on your own."
Now, knowing this, what is going to happen the next time there is a disaster? There's going to be even more looting and killing because no one is going to want to go to a government-run "shelter" where they could possibly die of thirst, hunger or murder. People are NOT going to listen to government because they just won't trust them to take care of them. All this in the richest country on earth.

3. Homeland security is a joke. You know that if another port disaster |
|
occurs, that Americans will have to suffer. Not that I would wish this to happen, but when suffering comes to you, reality is blatantly in your face.
Lest we forget, MARTIAL LAW, is an evil that may be lurking for the whole country. Where does that put us?
