If Clark wins New Hampshire,
Edited on Tue Jan-27-04 02:52 PM by NRK
how will the media spin it? After all, they called him DOA before the first vote was cast. They'll be sitting there with egg on their faces, outsmarted by a General they called a rookie.

This is what undecideds will see on their morning papers. Clark can't win? NOW who has to retract their statements? :bounce:

(I'm sure all the independents in NH just love it when the media tells them who to vote for, too.)

My prediction: they'll say it's the Republican crossover vote. After all, Republicans can vote for the Democrat they want to see run against Bush. They'll say Clark is unelectable because he's so craaaazy.

To which I say BULLCRAP. If they wanted to send a message of unity and strength in numbers, they'd have voted for Bush.

Your thoughts?

6. I mean no offense to Clark but
I really do not think he will win in NH. He might pull off a second place finish, but I have a hard time seeing that.

Anyway, let's say that I am really wrong and Clark walks out with a win, I think the media would be very positive for him for about a week. I think he would have a week much like Kerry's past week (Kerry's campaign was called died more then a few times).

As far as Repug crossover, I don't think there will be enough of that to change the vote more then 2 or 3%. With that being the case, Clark will have to win with Dems of all types if he wants to win NH.

To sum up, I do not think Clark will win NH, but if he does, he will have a great week ahead of him.

7. Thanks for your analysis.
I think simply doing better than expected will be quite an embarrassment for the talking heads who doubted his viability.

15. Also
The Republican crossover factor could be what's propping up Kerry and Dean.

http://www.moderateindependent.com/v2i2elections2004gop.htm
"The goal is to bury Clark – who they are worried is the best candidate to beat President Bush – and ensure that Dean wins – the person they consider easiest to beat."

I'm just sayin'.

12. Here's some international perspective:
Edited on Tue Jan-27-04 02:50 PM by NRK
(From Australia. The whole world is watching!)

First votes in vital poll notch up early boost for Clark

The retired army general Wesley Clark captured eight of the 15 votes cast for Democrats in the first balloting of the New Hampshire primary yesterday in the hamlet of Dixville Notch.

It gave his candidacy a symbolic boost before the rest of the state went to the polls.

(snip)

Among Democrats, General Clark received eight votes, the Massachusetts senator John Kerry three, the North Carolina senator John Edwards two, and the Connecticut senator Joe Lieberman and the former Vermont governor Howard Dean one each.

14. The same way they handled the Dean IA "loss," after they had
anointed Dean as the chosen one. They said before the caucuses that all the polls showing Kerry in the lead were wrong, caucuses can't be polled correctly, etc.

Then when Dean came in a distant third, they looked like deer caught in headlights, wondering, "WTF? Wha' happened?" Then they tried to analyze the HUGE (they said) things that Dean had done wrong in the last couple of days to crush his candidacy. There was nothing wrong, in their opinion, with their prior anointing of Dean as the winner, even though no votes had been cast.

So they would analyze what HUGE thing(s) happened in the last day or two that caused the real winner to lose his just spot.

The media is full of bull.
