Dennis Kucinich: Candidates Tiptoeing Around WMDs
Edited on Tue Jan-27-04 02:35 PM by AnAmerican
"Three more Americans died today in a war based on false claims about weapons of mass destruction. These claims were unfortunately supported by five of the candidates in today's primary. There is an eerie silence in this campaign surrounding the Bush Administration's false claims about WMDs.

"The Bush Administration took this country into an illegal war in Iraq. The President will be campaigning for reelection based on his Iraq policy.

"The Bush Administration policies of preemption and unilateralism have cost the lives of 515 troops and wasted $155 billion of taxpayers' money. Where are the rest of the Democrats?

"The Democratic candidates contesting in New Hampshire are tiptoeing around the issue of WMDs. Is it because they sense their own vulnerability, having agreed with President Bush's WMD claims?

Institute for Public Accuracy report on candidates' statements: http://www.accuracy.org/press_releases/PR012304.htm

"The war is putting our entire domestic agenda at risk. Yet candidates are discussing their plans for the US without mentioning the financial impact of Iraq. And none have suggested a plan to get out."

2. Dennis brings up an extremely important point...
The WAR and efforts directed at the WAR are centerpieces of American domestic policy, becuase efforts directed toward the war come STRAIGHT out of American pockets and possibilities for progress.

It's time to revamp the USA into a tool of peaceful progress and global responsibility. We've got too much to live up to, to allow the US to be blackened by these self-interested political machines.

3. I don't believe it's entirely accurate to say
that none of the other canididates have a plan to get us out of Iraq. They might not have a plan to get us as quickly out as Mr. Kucinich's, but i reviewed the plans for the website on this issue, and looked like they all had plans. (http://politicalcomment.blogspot.com --the candidate reviews are on the left, and the one labled "The War in Iraq" covers the candidates various plans to get us out of Iraq.

I also think that there aer legitimate questions as to whether or not Mr. Kucinich's plans get us out of Iraq a little too quickly, neglecting our responbilities to the country (particularly after we bombed the heck out of it.)

4. what part of Kucinich's plan leaves out American responsibility?
?

Which part of his plan suggests that Americans are not to be held responsible for the actions we've taken in the last 14 years?

6. Well, yeah, I"m sure he's all about holding us responsible
But what is the best way to discharge that responsibility? Kerry has his suggestion, Edwards another, Clark another. You prefer Kuciniches; nothing wrong with that. But one can't claim that he's the only one with a plan.

You could claim that he has the best plan, but that's not my opinion.

9. ok, thats not what you said...you said he was trying to pull out...
without being responsible to the Iraqi people.

No one else has Kucinich's plan, and none of them would give up control of Iraqi oil wells unless the commensurate officials in the new government guaranteed American-preferred contracts.

Which is why Kucinich's plan is the BEST.

Period.

5. He's 100% correct
But watch... due to the success of 'electability' myths, we'll have to learn how right he is by experience.

7. The big guys "won't start" these wars, but Dennis would fix the system
Edited on Tue Jan-27-04 03:12 PM by jpgray
His ideas on what to do with the "defense" budget, and moreover his commitment to peaceful resolutions and the crackdown on defense contractor graft should make every American support him.

edit: Plus he's the only one who *took* the position that Saddam probably had no WMDs.

8. I agree
But he'll never get the chance to state his case before all of America.

Good Democrats will see to that!
