1). To: Dog

This is not good. The only reason he would be doing this--again--is because internal polls are showing that the public is blaming the administration for the situation down there. I can't tell you how many people I've heard already who are furious with Bush (unfairly, I might add) over the lack of preparedness. The administration has really dropped the ball on this, pr-wise. I'm afraid this could be a death blow to Bush's popularity.

I love our president, but what in the heck, exactly, is he going to say that hasn't been said? If I hear the phrase, "stay the course", I'm turning it off.

And if you are feeling this way--a conservative activist on a conservative message board--just imagine how Joe Voter is feeling right about now. This thing is going to torpedo Bush's presidency.

7. Right. The murder of thousands of people is not the problem.
It's that darn message -- shoulda been tweaked a bit, you know?

16. How long will it take to recover as a nation from the terrible
notion that it is politics and image, not policy and substance?

May the universe help us all.

:wtf:

3. WOW! Maybe there are a few Pubs over there who actually still
have the ability to think!

The comment "if you, a conservative activist on a RW message board feels like this, just what does Joe voter think" was the best!!!

4. People are dying
and they are discussing PR moves & the effect it will have on his presidency. My God, these people have no souls. I'm afraid it is going to have to get even worse before people wake up. These people aren't giving up power without a fight.

17. There sure are a lot of truly despicable, disgusting people in America.
My wife was listening to some Yahoo message boards yesterday and heard comments about starving off as many "ugly fat black bastards" as possible in NOLA. Truly grotesque.

5. I think it's safe to say this hurts the Republicans and their president.
Some on this board thought that it may somehow lead to a "rally around the flag" effect. No such luck for the rightists though.

6. From the Little I've Seen,
they're STILL not bemoaning the loss of life or making any effort to help out via contributions and volunteering. I just hope the meme builds about how the common good is a Democratic concept.

11. You are BRILLIANT, ribofunk. EVERYBODY make a copy of this:
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 11:45 AM by calimary
"The common good is a Democratic concept."

It should be said, read, and spread. Rephrase it and use it in your own words. Embellish as you will. This is the bare pine tree we bring home from the Christmas tree lot and start decorating.

"The common good is a DEMOCRATIC concept."

I'd only add or slightly change one thing: "the common good is a LIBERAL concept." And I would (and I WILL) use them interchangeably.

KUDOS, ribofunk! Job EXCEEDINGLY well done! Now get back to work! We need more thinking like yours. :toast: :yourock:

I LOVE that! "The common good is a DEMOCRATIC concept." It's a VERY good corrolary to "...well (sad sigh), that's what you get when you vote republi-CON..." (with lowered eyes, a shrug and a sad, side-to-side shake of your head).

8. "Unfairly"??
So the Freeps thinks its "unfair" that people are PISSED at how their pet monkey has handled this?? That even the mediawhores who have enabled him for the last 5 years are finally questioning him.

What planet do these sheet wearing inbreds live on?

Bingo.

Game. Set. Match.

This warms the cockles of my heart.

10. The only thing creepier than happy Freepers
are sad freepers...

Funniest line: I'm afraid this could be a death blow to Bush's popularity.

Whistleass is lower in the polls now than Nixon was when he had to resign....

Second funniest: what in the heck, exactly, is he going to say that hasn't been said?
Well, I doubt anyone was expecting the incompetent drunk to reassure an anxious nation that Trent Lott's vacation home would rise again...

14. What is sad, is party before country (men) every time
They don't seem to care that people are dying, they only care it negatively impacts their party. What kind of animals are they?, because they surely aren't human.

13. Freeperland has finally put a link to disaster relief upon the front page!
Kind of.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1473520/posts

Only took four days.

And read some of these responses:

To: WestTexasWend

I don't like the Red Cross. Is Mercy Corps or some other group involved?

To: WestTexasWend
On yet another front, countries from around the globe have offered ............nothing.

To: sionnsar; cll

Frankly, I think donating through Wal-Mart, Lowe's or HomeDepot is preferable to giving to the Red Cross, which has a history of withholding funds for "other" uses/causes and is much too PC for its own good. Wal-Mart has already pledged $1m and set up collection points in its stores, Lowes is sending materials and will match up to $1m in in-store contributions from customers. Home Depot will be announcing its relief plan soon...I trust these retailers more than I trust the Red Cross.

Makes one appreciate the way the DU Admin responded to this tragedy.

Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 12:42 PM by eauclaireliberal
I mean, really...they support the pricks that destroyed N.O.'s defenses. Bunch of turds floating in the wrong cesspool. They don't lose family members? Then they don't give a shit.
