I never ever thought I would hear a news anchor |
|
say what Brian Williams has been saying tonight on the nightly news. He actually said that the pResident's visit was staged and it was far from the reality of the situation. How many of the things this admin says does not match reality. We have know this for 5 years! 5 years of total frustration and the constant hope that "this one is the downfall" that the emperors clothes have finally come off.
I thought I was ashamed as I could be to be an American, over the last 2 1/2 years with the Iraq debacle, I was wrong. I am more and more ashamed every day watching the New Orleans debacle.

22. But but Trent Lott lost his house... |
|
We should feel sorry because Trent Lott lost his house...sure, he probably has a residence in DC that he stays at most of the year. But poor guy...at least Bush said he can't wait to sit ont he porch of a new house.
HOW ABOUT SITTING ON THE PORCH OF A POOR BLACK FAMILY?
If this bastard doesn't get impeached for failure to honor his oath of office then shame on us.
AND WHERE THE FECK IS CHENEY????

What struck me was that * said they would rebuild an even better house for Lott....but no mention of rebuilding for anyone else.

I am LOVING this! One by one, the bigtime media people are starting to catch on, and they're no longer pulling their punches.
Wolf Blitzer. Jack Cafferty. Anderson Cooper. Aaron Brown. Suzanne Malvaux. Tim Russert and Matt Lauer on "The Today Show" no less. Chris Matthews. And now Brian Williams?
And let's not forget: KEITH OLBERMANN! Consistently the best for complete resistance to the Kool-aid. He was MAGNIFICENT this week, starting on Monday night.
Wow. Just. Wow.

10. I'll write them, but what I'd like to say is "have a nice nap?" |
|
I should be happy that they have thrown away the WH script, but before I email them I'll have to calm down and try to be nice, but I blame them more than Bush himself for what's happened to our country. If they had done their job, Bush wouldn't have been elected the first time, and for sure not the second.

I almost too passionately love Keith Olbermann. He worked here in L.A. for quite awhile. I worked at KTLA, Channel Five, as a writer-producer when he was the sports guy. He was brilliant and witty then, too, but confined it to sports. I'm not a sports fan, but I never missed his segment in the evening newscast, when ordinarily, that would have been my signal to slip out of the newsroom and take a bathroom break. Not with him around. He's just WUNNNNNNNNNderful and always made all of us laugh, and I'm so glad to see how he's branched out and is kicking ass with "Countdown." And he was nice to everybody around him, underlings or no. Clearly you have excellent and elegantly-refined taste in men-of-conviction. I think NBC oughta take a chance and elevate him to the "Nightly News" as lead anchor, making Brian Williams senior something or other, because Olbermann's work is truly unique and a real stand-out among all the other talking suits. Besides, I think he's kinda cute...
And Wes, too, well... what can I say? YUM. Just. YUM. Always hoped he and Dean would be the dream ticket...

Radio/tv here for 25 years total, and a little bit of print-side with the AP in the last nine.
I liked the ego of being on the air, but always envied print folks because you guys never had all this equipment to schlep around all the time! :D

20. I'd have to agree, they are growing rudimentary backbones, however, |
|
CSPAN trumped them all by simply just showing EVERYTHING that that Brickbrain said, totally unedited. The worst was when he spoke in Mississippi, interjected roughly one sentence about saving people, and then began simply rambling about this one oil pipeline and how they were up to such-and-such a capacity with it...he obscenely, disgustingly showed his priorities at that time. :puke:  :banghead: :puke:  :banghead: :puke:  :banghead: :puke:  :banghead: :puke:  :banghead: :puke:  :banghead: :puke:  :banghead: :puke:  :banghead: :puke:  :banghead: :puke:  :banghead: :puke:  :banghead: :puke:  :banghead:

truth it is being censored (cameraman has said msnbc etc couldnt show half of what he filmed because it was too awful and there have been blogs and reports of whats really going on)
and even with that filter it is still horrific enough for media and the public to have their heart wrenched out and filled with horror and disbelief
amazing what it takes to grab the mass privileged peoples attention

Seriously. I know that is out of context.... no it isn't there is no context inwhich that could possibly be said.
He said that to the Red Cross Executive Director Patrick McCrummen.

17. However, you can add his colleagues Shepard Smith AND Geraldo |
|
to this growing honor roll.
They were out there in the field, shooting down every platitude and pablum puke-job that hannity was trying to sell, saying they saw with their own eyes over and over and over again what crap that was. My husband and I were both shocked. I told him that the two of them risk being fired for this.

19. Sorry, but as cynical as I've become about the |
|
bloody corporate media, I'd say they all are suddenly realizing that they could end up under a pile of rubble, injured but dying of starvation and thirst because there is no one to come to their aid. They haven't shown one sign of concern about all the troops and Iraqis dying. The Iraqis didn't have food or water, power or homes or possessions or jobs or safety. What did these sorry excuses for human beings have to say about that? All the corruption in government, high crimes? What did they have to say about that? Undermining our constitution, narry a word.
I'd say they're just caught up in the moment, realizing that if this was a terrorist attack, their beloved resident along with all his corrupt band of thieves and murders would be off eating cake, while they are being eaten by rats.
They'll get over their emotional outbursts soon enough and return to their rightful work lying to the American public and doing pr for the fascist criminals in our gov.
With that said, I think Anderson Cooper might be an exception. He was magnificent last night, a human being reacting like a human being and it was real.

until he could compose himself last night, and later read online about him lashing out at Mary Landrieu because she was burbling on about how helpful the politicians had been, while--as he spat at her--dead bodies were being knawed by rats in the flooded streets of an American city.

27. They also realize which way the wind is blowing. |
|
And that this devastation can't be spun or papered over, given that it's going to be days or weeks before we even know the full effect and have people in relatively stable situations.
The public outrage is cover for the media to switch sides, probably temporarily. They know the whole world is watching and is appalled. Can't spin it.
I'm so cynical I don't even think they're having normal human reactions and seeing that this could happen to them and theirs. They're just jumping on the bandwagon, which is being driven, for once, by THE PEOPLE.

over the coals last night. Asked him - was it really racism given the fact that the NO mayor is black and doesn't he deserve some of the blame...and what about the lawlessness, etc. So I wonder how long these newanchor/reporter transformations will last? Wonder how much Nagin is going to be scapegoated in the post mortem.....
