"George Bush doesn't care about black people" - Kayne West
Just now, on the NBC telethon.

They ABRUPTLY cut away to Chris Tucker.

Prior to that comment, West said "White people are looking for food. Black people are "looting."

Just a message from B_E_B, a caucasian by birth, to let you know that this all DISGUSTS me. NO ONE SHOULD SUFFER.

3. And he told the TRUTH, because you'd better BELIEVE...
...that "black people" and "the 'N' word" are SYNONYMOUS in the BUSH household.

6. I'm sorry
I must be missing something. Why leave black out of it? If this disaster happened in an affluent white neighbourhood help would have been there with hours. How can we not leave race out of it.

8. Actually it did and they were...to some extent
No I meant that as a bit of a joke (we can still do that).

Bush doesn't care about people in general. In fact his poll numbers go up (usually) when a lot of them die-9/11, Iraq.

Again welcome to DU :hi:

I think he was right.

I think Bush respects his "base." HOW many African Americans are in his "base?"

Bush respects "Rangers" and "Pioneers."

I'm guessing that the overwhelming majority of African Americans in this country are NOT "Rangers" and "Pioneers."

YES, Kayne West went out on a limb when he made that comment.

In his desire to embody the WORST that a "fake Texan" lifestyle could offer, did Bush leave "black people" in the dust?

BET...YOUR...ASS.

Show me PROOF that Bush gives a RAT'S ASS for African Americans...BEYOND furthering his OWN AMBITIONS...and I'll withdraw my statements in a FUCKING HEARTBEAT.

12. OK, got it...
You're RIGHT...I don;t believe Bush singles ANYONE out.

You give him money, or you DON'T.

You give him MONEY, you EXIST.

You DON'T, you are LIVESTOCK.

That's what I was saying.

So I support Kayne West's comments.

BUT...he needs to add EVERY non-contributing ethnic group on the face of the EARTH.

This is NOT about "black people."

This is about people who are outside of Bush's "base."

ALL races qualify for THAT distinction.

It's not the time to back off and make excuses. Scream it out, tell your neighbour, shout it out. Show them for what they truly are.

17. He and * sr. made it VERY clear who they feel they serve...
sorry--that's not anyone of color in this country. Not asian, not gay, not middle eastern, not old or infirm, not women of any color.

Only rich, white men. Period.

Choose to see it or not. If you are any of this populace, it's just easier to see, than if you are not. Again, period.

14. Not that there's much danger of that happening, but probably not.
If Salt Lake City floods, the whole planet's probably pretty much fucked.

Of course if it did happen, the fundagelicals could always blame it on the "false God of Mormonism" while the Mormons outside the city would probably blame it on the Heathen Gentiles who live in SLC. And poor Orrin Hatch wouldn't know what the fuck to say.

19. I just returned from a week in Salt Lake City....
Orrin Hatch called the protestors of the Iraq war who gathered when Bush made his PR visit there "nutcakes." So, he would probably have something to say- however, it would be inappropriate!

26. Yes.
SLC is the major population center for the state. It's heavily Republican, so the likely scenario would be that the rich folks would be airlifted out, and the rest of the folk (of which there are plenty since wages in SLC are seriously BAD) will drown in floodwaters. Or drink lava from Yellowstone, if you prefer. There is a segment of the population who are very compassionate, and they would likely spend all their time helping in any way they could. There's also a big bunch of folks who are seriously selfish and wouldn't cross the street to save a life - they'd stampede over people getting out.

Seriously. I know that is out of context.... no
it isn't there is no context inwhich that could possibly be said.

He said that to the Red Cross Executive Director Patrick McCrummen.

I'm sorry that is a keeper.

25. Fox story on this: He WAS censored (West Coast Feed)
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,168387,00.html

Appearing two-thirds through the program, he claimed "George Bush doesn't care about black people" and said America is set up "to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off as slow as possible." The show, simulcast from New York on NBC, MSNBC, CNBC and Pax, was aired live to the East Coast, enabling the Grammy-winning rapper's outburst to go out uncensored. There was a several-second tape delay, but the person in charge "was instructed to listen for a curse word, and didn't realize (West) had gone off-script," said NBC spokeswoman Rebecca Marks. Immediately after the airing was over, Marks said it was undetermined how much, if any, of the tirade would be included in the taped West Coast feed three hours later.

Comedian Mike Myers was paired with West for a 90-second segment that began with Myers speaking of Katrina's devastation. Then, to Myers' evident surprise, West began a rant by saying, "I hate the way they portray us in the media. If you see a black family, it says they're looting. See a white family, it says they're looking for food." While allowing that "the Red Cross is doing everything they can," West — who delivered an emotional outburst at the American Music Awards after he was snubbed for an award — declared that government authorities are intentionally dragging their feet on aid to the Gulf Coast. Without getting specific, he added, "They've given them permission to go down and shoot us." After he stated, "George Bush doesn't care about black people. Please call _" the camera cut away to comedian Chris Tucker.

In a statement, NBC said, "Kanye West departed from the scripted comments that were prepared for him, and his opinions in no way represent the views of the networks.

"It would be most unfortunate," the statement continued, "if the efforts of the artists who participated tonight and the generosity of millions of Americans who are helping those in need are overshadowed by one person's opinion."
