Someone told me today..
Bush was going to suspend federal taxes on gasoline.. I haven't been able to find anything on it, but estimates were that there would be a .15 cnt savings and if states removed theirs even more.

3. Georgia has suspended its gas taxes for September
Of course, we have some of the lowest gas taxes in the nation, so it probably won't make a big difference. Besides, most of the stations in my area are out of gas for the time being.

4. Forget that... they need to put in Windfall Profits Tax...
So, even if we are gouged, the oil companies will be limited on the money they can make and the mney will flow back into the Federal Treasury, however, I hate giving any money for these criminasl to loot away!!

5. terriffic idea.
Encourage more consumption, have less money available for road maintenence, and it won't matter anyway because the delta is sucked up by Big Oil.

They ought to be pushing more conservation through taxation....penalize the big guzzling SUV's. That's in our nation's long term interests.

This is a short term panacea with low term negative implications....but what do they care? They won't be around to fix things....that's what Democrats do and then Republicans can complain about taxes again, starting the whole vicious cycle.

6. The oil companies' profits
should be required to be ZERO for at least a month...

The bastards.

I would vote for $5 a gallon ($15/gallon for hummers) if 3/4 of it went for mass transit, conservation and infrastructure as it does in Europe. I don't mind high gas prices for social benefit, I just hate the idea of higher gas prices for record oil company profits.

the bastards.
