"It's not NICE to fool Mother Nature."
For these guys, spending the people's money on maintaining levees was too "reality-based".

They had (as Mr. Cheney once had when offered a chance to serve in the military) "other priorities".

So they fired the guy who DID HIS JOB by objecting to the tremendous risk posed by cutting the funds to hold the waters back. Even though all the study and research had shown, at multiple levels of government, that these were serious, predictable risks to our security and safety.

After all, global warming is just a "theory". Like, say, evolution.

Hell, I was ready for them to tell me that the theory of gravity was a matter of "scientific uncertainty".

But apples still fall down. So do levees.

Has Mother Nature called the bluff of the people who sneer at basing policies on "reality"?

It's her planet, after all. We're just borrowing it.
