I just went off in an email to my US Senator on Katrina relief...
"Congratulations! The actions of the government in response to hurricane Katrina are a complete and abject FAILURE! In addition, the Department of Homeland Security has been proven to be completely inept and incompetent at keeping Americans safe. Thanks for wasting billions of our tax dollars. I feel safer already.

I notice Bush and Cheney managed to get contracts for their pals at Blackwater and Halliburton for the reconstruction and security of New Orleans. It's amazing they had time to do that when they DIDN'T HAVE TIME to arrange air drops of water to infants trapped in the Convention Center and the Superdome. I say trapped, because citizens currently in those two locations are not allowed to leave, but are held captive within by government forces. Held captive, and not provided food or water for 5 days.

Now maybe you have different ethics than I do, but in my opinion that's criminally negligent homicide. By our government. To whom we pay big money in taxes. Thank you for murdering American citizens in my name. I have never been so angry and revolted.

But hey - a major NATIONAL CATASTROPHE on a scale we have NEVER BEFORE SEEN was just a minor inconvenience that can't be allowed to interrupt your little vacation. Well, gee. It's not like it might be nice if Congress actually showed some leadership and compassion for the American public by showing they CARE by actually SHOWING UP FOR WORK IN THE MIDST OF A NATIONAL CRISIS! How are we supposed to have confidence in you when you've proven in such a shameless manner that you are totally unconcerned that Americans are dying by the thousands in a major US city? How can you inspire confidence when you REFUSE TO GO TO WORK? But your August recess is more important than helping the American people feel like their government might actually care about our citizens.

How dare you so abuse the public trust! How dare you allow that THING in the White House to spend his time glorifying himself, enriching his pals, and rubbing his hands in glee over bloated oil profits while thousands of Americans suffer in the US gulf. And while you and your pals engage in this disgrace, you dare ask for our support for things like the repeal of the inheritance tax, the gutting of Social Security, and the appointment of a Judge to the Supreme Court who blatantly lobbied for the job while ruling from the bench on legal issues for the Administration.

You were silent when the Administration covered up their involvement in the Plame leak - and worse, defended their crime. You SILENCED a press report I SENT YOU on a leak by this administration that may have led to the London bombings. And here you are - off on vacation in the midst of a major national crisis. I feel so comforted by your obvious performance on our behalf.

I'll make sure that I'm silent at the polls when you ask for my vote. And I'll use my best persuasive skills to make sure everyone I know is just as silent at the polls as you are when dying babies beg for water.

Not only does the American public despise you, but this administration has made this great country a GLOBAL LAUGHINGSTOCK!!

But let the BBC tell you about your legacy in office - and I hope you choke on it:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/4210674.stm"

I'm just so ANGRY! And I feel like the Administration just ignores us. They say 'stay the course, stay the course...'

Well, you don't stay the friggin' course when you're on the Titanic and headed straight for an iceberg!

When those things from Washington come on TV now, I literally feel like I'm going to throw up. We care far more about the lives of our fellow Americans than our government does.

Don't let up on those things in Washington. Keep their feet to the fire. I truly feel that if we look away for a moment, they'll be covering up the nightmare down south and letting people die to save $$$. Don't let them do it!

2. Pukes.
Which is why I feel so helpless in convincing them to do the right thing.
