Today's repug talking point: "Mother Nature did it." |
|
So...both Bush* and Chertoff invoked Mother Nature in speeches today. "A powerful opponent".
There you have it. "Gee whiz, we're doing the best we can, but, by golly, when you go up against ol' Mother Nature, boy, sometimes she just kicks your butt. Nothing we can do about THAT."
Question: Is God stronger than Mother Nature? Couldn't our God fearin' Christian administration have prayed hard enough (REAL squinchy eyes like Pat Robertson does when he's just a-prayin' REAL REAL hard) to God to trump Mother Nature? Or is it a co-equal thing?

3. This was a man made disaster |

They didn't reinforce the infrastructure. They spent the tax dollars that should have been used for cities maintenance programs for other things like Haliburton.
Our cities are falling apart. Every road I see being built is a toll road. Everything is being privatized to make the rich "looters" richer.

6. Nature does a lot of things |
|
and people respond with common sense and preparation. In the case of NOLA, there were many voices shouting loudly to reinforce the levees in New Orleans fronting on the Gulf, which could have cost only a little over $100 million-- a pittance compared to expenditures in the War in Iraq. There was almost universal agreement on the need for this. But the Bush Administration, penny wise and pound foolish as it is wont, refused to allocate the funds (even as it lavished hundreds of billions in pork to useless programs), and now of course we're paying through the nose in tens of billions of dollars for this disaster. It's called being prepared.

lovers (can two scientists marry these days?)on board. It is not intelligent design. It is not Mother Nature beyond Wednesday when people should have been evacuated from the dome.
It is "Eminent Domain".
