My message to CNN re Chertoff and accountability:
I thank you for your coverage of this disaster we currently have in the Gulf Region. Mostly, I have been thankful for your reports of the situation as it unfolds. It is a tragic situation that was made worse by the fact that our Federal Government is obviously incapable of taking care of the American people when faced with a disaster that they could have and should have been prepared for. The dismantling of FEMA, the "privatizing" of disaster relief work is extremely shameful and frightful. The lack of care for "the least of these" among us in America is appalling. I noticed that in the last 24 hours your coverage has shifted from one of what is happening with the people to one of giving the microphone to the officials who failed us so that they can deny the failure and tell us that what we perceive as reality is wrong. That is insulting! It adds insult to injury! Chertoff is wrong. The response was terribly inadequate. I know it, we know it and the world knows it. The tragedy was not "unforeseeable" at all. Please continue to ask the officials the difficult questions NOW! Americans, not "refugees" or "evacuees" Americans, are suffering and dying because of the incompetence of this administration. Please keep asking for accountability and responsibility NOW! Thank you.
