72. I wouldn't do it
I'd be spending my time getting my life back together. I'd be finding a place to live, looking for a job, hopefully starting a new one and getting my property and finances back in order.

Political stunts would be the last thing on my mind.

6. I voted "no" only because
I'd rather see them set up Camp Katrina at the Pig Farm in Crawford. Mainly because winter is coming on and it will get colder in DC than in Crawford. Plus, that would make it a little more difficult for Idiot Son to "get on with his life".

18. CITIZENS of New Orleans should definitely set up "Camp Katrina",
but they need to have been there, have compelling stories to tell, and be willing to tell those stories to the media when asked.

This is not just good PR, but it is necessary for the rest of America to hear their stories and know what they went through. Most of these people lost everything. Some lost family members and friends. Anyone who remembers the people standing around in NYC after 9/11 with pictures of family members who were "missing" knows how poignant those stories can be!

19. I voted no because the evacuees need to be settled and healing. BUT, if
a group of the evacuees or people whose loved ones have died or are missing WANT to set up such a camp, then I would certainly vote "yes." It would be a powerful protest and a way to empowerment to hold Bush accountable and force aid and relief. He is confident in their helplessness to confront him. I would LOVE to see him and all of the rest of country and the world learn different.

But only if they WANT to. Then they should get our full and enthusiastic support and solidarity. Of course.

Does anyone know the exact legal status of the Mall? That needs to be clear - we would have to make sure there is not a technicality under which they would be denied entry or evicted. Even WITH eviction or blockage - filmed, of course - there is a powerful statement, but even better to have them be able to stay there.

Apparently the West Wing has just been rennovated - so it should be just perfect for our NOLA sisters and brothers. Of course, Jabbar Gibson and his family should get to live in the Oval Office since nobody else uses it.

It is, after all, OUR house.

The bush crime family has no problem constantly using the victims of 9/11 for political purposes. C'mon, toughen up. Sometimes you have to play by their rules to win. Something the dems sorely need to learn.

And some of the no's preferred Crawford as a location.

Anyone else interested in getting the idea out?

EVERYONE who has been made a "refugee" by this White House - political or Katrina-related or otherwise - should be there. September 24th there's supposed to be a huge anit-war rally. I have a feeling that it's going to turn into a just-plain-anti-bush rally.

parade on 9/11..let them walk around the refugees in D.C.

Have them camped out on the lawn of the white house, too.

They didn't prepare for this because they said .."Americans don't live in tents." The Refugees will be estactic to have a tent of their own. I know I was when fema gave me one after Hurricane Iniki.
