Do you think Rove
was telling Bush don't worry...because he's under the microscope for being a traitor and just wants Bush to fall because he may fall?
It's hard to believe that Bush did not react after a couple days this is the biggest F' up ever by the Repubs. This will cause great pains for the USA for sometime to come. I just really don't get these guys at all.
They are usually much more secretive when it comes to the Media getting anything on them and the whole world watched this. It really doesn't make sense. Is there a war going on with the Bush and Co. klan ?? One wonders.

3. I think Rove saw an opportunity here to make political gains and

to garner more power for Homeland Security, among other things.

Going through the motions of aid for five days and allowing the situation to degenerate to the depths of misery and then blaming the state and local officials? He thought it would bring down Blanco and Nagin and then they'd have ALL of Louisiana.

As a result, in the future Homeland Security would have a free rein to bypass posse comitatus to declare martial law in times of national emergency.

But it's backfired. The old Rove magic just isn't there anymore. The media isn't buckling under and sticking with the party line. This has to be a big shock to Karl Rove and George W. Bush.

Bush's numbers were in the tank already. What do you think they're gonna be next week? He's becoming powerless and the Republicans in Congress are going to be jumping ship to get reelected. The Republicans are going to have to spend money to get reelected in Mississippi next fall.

And while one of his wishes came true today as he will get to appoint the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court - it comes at a time when the country and the media are judging him incompetent.

5. poll numbers
I was thinking his poll numbers may even dip into the 20s!

All week EVERYONE has seen the failure of this administration. We are all outraged that it took them 5 days to get food and water to these people who were forced to live in a toxic dump! Democrats and Republicans alike are upset by their inaction.

I just don't see any way that it wouldn't have an effect on the polls too!

4. Here's whats going on ....
pre-hurricane ..... a 'terrorist attack' was in the works for sometime in September to get us into Iran. Okay Hurricane hits, money, resources, diverted (therefore the response delay while they figure this out) and now the upcoming 'incident' will hit us 'while we are down' therefore uniting America to take it out on somebody. Iran. All speculation. Hope I am wrong. Peace. :)

6. They're just clueless....
The agencies are useless, smoke and mirrors. Bush cronies sit in cushy jobs, doing nothing.

It seems like there were no preparations at all. There is nothing to indicate that any resources were mobilized
and in place, ready to go, as the hurricane hit.

For days afterward as we all watched in horror, FEMA seemed to be unaware that this event should be of any concern to them.

Demand resignations! Now!

8. Rove is not as smart as people think
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 12:59 AM by Julius Civitatus
Please, be real, folks.

Roe is a very astute, very ruthless political hack... but he is a ONE TRICK PONY. He only has a couple of very nasty tricks up his sleeve that he uses time and time again, over and over:

  1. Trick 1 - tarnish your enemy without any compassion. Throw so much shit that people won't know what's true no more. Destroy the reputation of your opponent remorseless, using dirty tricks and a network of willing hacks. Be as nasty and poisonous as you can be. Nothing is sacred.

  2. Trick 2- Make your candidate into a demi-god, sheltered from any real criticism or exposure to real people. Create "Potemkin villages" around him everywhere your candidate goes. Whip the press into shape to play along.

Guess what, it doesn't work anymore. I think most people have caught on with his shameless bullshit. No amount of spinning can hide the fact that Bush and his cronies have fucked up big time! And they have been caught blatantly staging photo-ops in the mids of this horrible disaster.
