One thing I've noticed - black politicians again carrying the fight...
I can't believe this - yet again white politicians are taking a protective seat behind black politicians and letting them do the fight for us. I'd love to turn on the tv and see a swarm of white politicians standing BEHIND the Congressional Black Caucus and knod their heads for once.

Some days I am utterly amazed at how our fellow black congress members seem to be the only ones that are truly up for the fight for democracy under the Bush regime.

Disgraceful....

2. Yep, I'm getting pretty sick of it too, hey whitey, "GET OFF YOUR ASS!"
The CBC is always getting everything done, it's like all of our White Senators don't want to get shunned at the club house and they play it safe.

4. it was the same people
the same leaders who stood up against the election fraud in January as well.

they are the people who fight for the rights of EVERYONE. black or white or whatever race, the ones who fight for the general public are our real leaders.

5. I still think the Dems are smart to let this play out in a "non partisan"
way.

We are only going to hear more.

9. i disagree
this is about utter sheer incompetence on the part of the Bush administration, and they must be called out on it. By keeping quiet, the Dems are only making their image of being spineless cowards much worse.

At least the former Dem. presidential candidates have been speaking out, thank goodness. So far we're heard from Wes Clark, Al Sharpton, John Edwards, Dennis Kucinch, and Carol Moseley Braun. I think I heard Howard Dean mumble something.

Wes Clark wrote a blistering piece about this called "It all comes back to leadership" You can read it at http://securingamerica.com/node/242 .

7. Goddam right - and we better be glad we got 'em.
I stand behind thenm and I plead with all Democrats to do the same.

AFAIC,they are the heart and soul of our party right now. We MUST be inspired by their courage to TAKE ACTION. It is time for us all to get going, get involved, get off our asses and get behind the people who are leading by example!

8. Hey - I just thought of this. Perhaps - if the Dems are quiet enough..
Bush can't use Katrina as a smokescreen. Maybe the Dems are even smarter.

Katrina will play out as the stories are told. As the investigation starts. But by taking the heat off Bush on this - it leaves room in the news for all the sneaky things (recess appointments - pentagon resignations & Cindy).

I hope so.

the silence of the dems is deafening.

Bush is sitting exposed and other than trying to blame the NOLA first responders, he has nowhere to hide...

its him versus the press, and I love it.

EDIT TO SAY, love is the wrong word, I hate this entire situation, and my heart is broken for NOLA, although it is nice to have * exposed, I never had hoped for such a nightmare in catastrophe to be the end result of his incompetance.

14. Right. Can he go give a microphone to Dr. Dean?
I love Howard Dean, but I'm not seeing him now.

I hope he's either:
A) Helping people in New Orleans somehow or
B) Building a case to show the incompetence of this administration or
C) All of the above.

most white folks feel the consequences in a more diffued way.

17. Sadly, I think your post is one of the most honest yet...
and really shows a great deal about America. In more ways than one, this disaster has pulled the cover right off the face of America and has revealed more than some of the US might want to know.

Hopefully, this will change America for the better. Only time will tell.

15. Now is not the time.
Democrats should be quiet, until this rescue operation is over.

There will be a ton of people ready to make statements once this is over, but there needs to be respect now....for the people and families.

I don't think raising your voice would do anything atm, to make * work any faster....

18. yes it is, now today, tomorrow, and every day he remains in office
do not fall under the illusion that bush and busheviks think like you.

they don't.

bag on bush like a drum every chance you can. do not give him any quarter or breathing room for a second. get him on the run and keep it up. he is not an honest or caring man. only pressure that is constant and severe has any chance to force him to alter his ways in the least.

bush and busheviks respect only one thing, and that is force. they dispise anything that resembles weakness, and any show of comity and civility to them is viewed as a weakness that should be exploited.

i want that son of a bitch looking over his shoulder every single time he makes a move expecting his opposition to attack him if he steps out of line one micron.

Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 03:16 AM by FrenchieCat
Black folks have always been the frontline soldiers deep in the trenches ....at wars abroad and here at home.

I pretty much resent the fact that the majority of the "status quo" Dems continue to prosper and have others fight their battles for them.....so that when the CBC gets discredited and disrespected it ain't no sweat of those Status Quo Dems.

Status Quo Dems can kiss my non Status Quo ass!

20. I think this is so serious that Dems should stay silent - so that the
discussion is between the CBC & the President. It is easy for GOP to make the noise machine go off on Democratic politicians. Not so easy to attack CBC or Al Sharpton on this issue.

The message and the investigation can then be as clear as a bell. How can they shoot the messenger (like with Cindy) if the messenger is talking about serious, serious issues?

For too long Dems have had no power and played their role in the noise machine. Nothing about what is going on should be able to be covered in so much smoke.
