Rice "just doesn't believe" Katrina aid came in "a color-affected way"

Rice was slammed by critics on the Internet after she attended a New York performance of the Monty Python musical "Spamalot" on Wednesday, a day after New Orleans flooded.

After returning to Washington, she defended the administration against charges that the slow government response and the prolonged suffering of New Orleans' predominantly black storm victims were signs of racial neglect.

"That Americans would somehow in a color-affected way decide who to help and who not to help, I just don't believe it," said Rice, the administration's highest-ranking black official.

The Washington Post reported on Sunday that Bush administration officials were blaming state and local authorities for the disaster response problems. The newspaper said the administration was rebuffed in an effort to take control of police and National Guard units reporting to Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco, a Democrat.

10. She knows the truth .....
Ms. Rice what is the title of the PDB?

"I believe that it was titled, Bin Laden seeks to attack the United States."

Ms. Rice what is the neocon position paper for what to do after
a national emergence?

"I believe it is titled, "Let all the poor and middle class people die
from starvation, thirst, dysentery, civil violence, chronic illnesses,
and lack of sanitation."

15. It's not just the South, but I understand your point.
There is racism all over this country. In fact, I think combating racism in the South is handled more effectively because we actually talk about it - it's out in the open. In other places in the country, racism is still under the old "wink, wink, nudge, nudge," under-the-cover rule.

None of us asked her to believe anything. That's what Churches are for. And I wouldn't want to own any Church in which she claws or otherwise Seþs hoof.

A rich person is only a poor person with money. Her cacodemonic malaise goes far deeper than her skin color.

18. Agreed. I think socioeconomic level is the main factor.
I don't think thousands of very poor white people at the Superdome would have gotten any better treatment.

21. Condi is color-blind
She just sees a big callous government ignoring desperate humans, not a big callous White government ignoring desperate Black humans. How big of her to not let race creep into the picture.

22. The incompetence may have been color-blind, but
it was not class-blind. And class is not color-blind.

But, the incompetence was spread widely, and imho, we should focus on the stunning incompetence that affected everyone. Like it or not, some people will ignore things that affect "other people". When they realize their own kind was affected too - or could have been - it hits home more.

Even people who were well enough off to evacuate pre-storm, lost a lot (some of them hugely) because of the feds ignoring the levee and environmental issues. Let's not let the wealthy and middle-class voters forget that!
