Sen. Landrieu: * faked levee repair for photo op
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 08:50 AM by paineinthearse
Rep. Conyers cites Am.blogspot story charging * levee repair for photo op

Better Late than Never

This title could of course refer to the New Orleans debacle, which is becoming more outragerous by the hour. As if the sheer incompetence of the response was not enough, now we learn that the president had the temerity to use a fake levee repair as a prop for his trip, courtesy of Americablog.

Bush faked levee repair for photo op yesterday
by John in DC - 9/03/2005 06:29:00 PM

From a press release LA Senator Mary Landrieu sent out today:

But perhaps the greatest disappointment stands at the breached 17th Street levee. Touring this critical site yesterday with the President, I saw what I believed to be a real and significant effort to get a handle on a major cause of this catastrophe. Flying over this critical spot again this morning, less than 24 hours later, it became apparent that yesterday we witnessed a hastily prepared stage set for a Presidential photo opportunity; and the desperately needed resources we saw were this morning reduced to a single, lonely piece of equipment. The good and decent people of southeast Louisiana and the Gulf Coast - black and white, rich and poor, young annd old - deserve far better from their national governmeent.

I'm taking bets. Will the House Government Affairs Committee investigate this, or stay focused on steroids in baseball? I know what course Rep. Waxman will be taking.

1. Well Frist is back to screwing the American public
Just back to Business for Frist. He's going to introduce the repeal of the inheritance tax this week. Just what we need to help those victims of Katrina.

7. Dr. Fristenstein to the rescue
Most of those corpses seem to be exhibiting signs of life, as far as I can see.

I was watching one of the cable news outlets Thursday afternoon (I believe). When "advanced search" is back, look through my posts (believe it was in thread the WW2 Normandy invasion / Mullbury harbor), where I commented that a SINGLE bull dozer (and a small one at that) was at work.

Get the video and we have proof.

12. Stephanopoulis showed a fly-over he did with her.
They flew over the breech and she point out the single crane. She also mentioned the photo op. She broke down and cried several times.

Very powerful.

Maybe Mary has learned this lesson now. Maybe not. We'll see. She better be careful. Once you say yes, sometimes that dance lasts forever. Bush doesn't let go.

9. And compare this: Mississippi Gov praising the help received while a NO
Edited on Sun Sep-04-05 09:52 AM by NoFederales
parish president working nonstop with locals to repair a levee breaks down on Russert's MTP and pleads where's the help, where's the help--so gut-wrenching I could hardly watch. How does one channel such anger without killing oneself needlessly?
