3. Me too..

Take some heart in the fact that everyone is recognizing and talking about it on national tv. I hope just like 9-11 resulted in a group of families that pushed for the truth, the NO people will sue the government for an explanation.

I hope something good comes out of all this.

5. I think it will be hard to spin this.

People were convinced Bush was a liar before all this happened. I think this will just harden the views of people who were starting to turn against him.

Look what happened to Hastert when he opened his mouth about not rebuilding NO.

I don't hold out much hope that government will change much of anything, but the people could.

This is just so sick what happened, I can't think of anything to write. I hated Bush before. How much can you hate someone?

13. yeah

They'll try, but I think people have caught on.

I can't imagine how it would feel to be black in this country and see what happened this week. I am so sorry and ashamed.

I guess we'll have to wait and see what happens. It makes me wonder what the anti-war march on DC will look like in a few weeks. Bush has managed to unite a LOT of people against him, and his recent bungling will radicalize the anti-war, anti-bush movement. I think one reason the 60s was more progressive was because there were so many different kind of people united against the government and status quo. The blacks, the women, the hippies, etc.

It's time to unite again.

30. I agree (mostly)
The country does need to be united. But, I don't agree with the racist angle that has been applied to NO. I just think that someone dropped the ball.

6. Bush was rousted from bed at midnight for Schaivo
and hurried from his vacation to the whitehouse to sign some lame assed "Terrys law" or whatever.

He saw no political gain from Katrina, Those suffering weren't among his base. Only when it became evident that it was blowing up out of control and making him look bad did he bother mentioning it and then in a detached manor.

Third world level competence. They don't care about humanity one lick. Just scoring political points.

7. 2days 4 days?
In the aftermath of the storms last year, Bush went to see the damage in Florida 2 days after. He was beat up in the press because he went "TOO SOON" and "GOT IN THE WAY". He was chastised by dmeocrat leadership for his move. Now he comes here after 4 days and hes "TOO LATE" and "NOT DOING ENOUGH".

Please make up your minds. I think it was important for him to go and see the devastation. I think that the national guard and LA state police should have been mobilized Saturday. It is a shame that the releif efforts bogged down and went no where. However, this immeadiate cutthroat anticks on laying blame should stop. The People OF LA, Miss, and the Gulf coast should be the MAIN focus...

Bush was not lambasted for showing up "too soon" in Florida. That is Limbaugh tripe. Even Faux news is blasting Bush for his late response in NO. Only Limbaugh and Hannity are making excuses for him.......

Nah, The constitution while comforting in its generalities leaves room for the oppression of gays and other types of folk whose behavior may SEEM inappropriate to others.

What does that have to do with my post? While I'll be glad to debate my stance on gay rights issues, I don't think it would be very productive.

I can remember Chris Matthews, Lou Doubs (sp?) and even Joe Scarbourough were commenting on it. I'm not much of a newspaper reader, but I think NY Times and USA TOday. But not sure.

I have to agree, the response here is a disgrace. The national guard and the state police should have been mobilized Saturday before things got out of hand. THe groups there were not prepared and didn't seem to have a plan other than riding around in the big army trucks. The more successful responders appeared to be voluteers coming in their own boats.
