Interview on MTP - OMG
Russert interviewing one of the local NOLA supervisors trying to fix the breach in a levee. Talked of working 24/7 for three days to get it done and getting no help from the Feds.

He talked of one of his workers whose mother was trapped in a nursing home calling him on the phone every day asking to be rescued. For 4 days he told her help was coming. On Friday she finally drowned.

He broke down in tears. No way was he letting Russert try to blame this on the governor or NO officials.

Can't wait to see the transcript. Very powerful.

1. That guy almost made me cry....the local officials can't even get their
own families out.

that's his employee, he can't help but feel responsible and helpless. I feel so BAD for him.

2. I don't know how Russert continued the interview.
I was a basket case. My HOPE is that Bush and his tribe are forced (using some of their own rubber stamped torture techniques) to watch that interview over and over and over again.

3. It was unbelievable.
Russert was trying to cut away from him before he started to tell the story. He said something like, I just want to say one more thing, then you can tell me to shut up. I was reduced to tears myself. Oh. My. God.

4. He was great
He knew Russert was trying to cover for * and blame locals, and he wouldn't let him do it.

5. Did you hear what he said about communications
being deliberately cut? That they reconnected the phones, and I think he said they were cut again.

I didn't get who did that ~ he said something also about money going to Iraq ~ that needs to be said over and over again, and the cuts to domestic programs.

He said the people were 'abandoned by their country'.

7. same thing with the firemen and others. Their homes are gone
and they were trying to put out fires with no water and their homes are gone. It's a tragedy for so many people.
