Supreme court vote
Isnt this National disaster and Bushs inept criminal handling of it an extraordinary event to get the Dems to Filibuster the judicial vote until a hearing about Bushs performance.

1. It will probably happen....
but, what does one have to do with the other? THe handling of this devastation is diffinitely going to be viewed through a microscope (as it should be). BUt the the confirmation hearings have nothing to do with the relief efforts. ARe the members of the Judicial Committee or other COngressmen going to actually participate in the relief efforts? IF not, then the confirmation process should go forward. I'm sure there are going to be plenty of fireworks going on in DC.

2. If Bush isnt competant
then he cant pack the courts. I think the last thing this nation needs now is a nasty fight instead of starting to rebuild.

3. Any nominee goes through the process...
AS we have seen in the past. Many presidents have been "surprised" by their picks to the court after they get there. The confirmation process is about the judge and his actions in the past. And if they wish to answer (ei Ginsburg) any questions. While BUsh's actions in the wake of this disaster should be reviewed (as well as the LA governors, the national guard, etc), It is separate from the confirmation. With the death of the chief justice, I could see a delay as O'Conner said she will wait until she is replaced. I could envision her staying on until (for the lack of a better phrase) the clouds are cleared.

4. If bu$h isn't competent in wars and natural disasters,
why do you think he would be any better picking a Supreme Court judge? He has to pack the court to head off the coming impeachments, war crime and crimes against humanity trials that his handlers know will be coming up.
