Only reason I wouldn't want to see bush impeached: |
|
Cheney :scared:
While I am appalled at what is becoming of my country under *, I fear what would become of our country under Cheney.

2. On the contrary. There has to be a reason why Cheney is in |
|
hiding all the time. Bring him into the light and we'll see if he disintegrates.

4. Bush is the face of the same evil Cheney arises from.... IF Bush were |
|
impeahced and removed.... Cheney and his ilk would be politically powerless, not being able to do anything in Congress, etc.

8. Cheney is far more arrogant than Bush |
|
And has been trying to pull power away from Congress relentlessly. It wouldn't matter, to a president Cheney, whether or not he had political clout - he's the head of the "we create reality" crew.

5. Two things: 1) Cheney IS Bush..... |
|
and I don't think one would go down without the other.
2) So what if we got Cheney? He couldn't be worse that Bush (see 1).
Impeachment would send a much needed message to the Neocons that they cannot get away with what their getting away with!

I think there are some around who serve as slight constraints on the fascist tendencies of this admin - for example - we haven't yet gone into Syria or Iran (and they have signalled the intent from the first days of going into Iraq) and they pulled back on Schaivo (the original plan and rhetoric went further than Schaivo - it was to push for overruling of living wills, under the belief that the RR would form such a solid block - so far into the future that it would help them achieve their dreams of a 50 year one party-rule govt.) Under Cheney - all those who provide even the least bit of restraint - would be swept away.

14. True, but Cheney has some other problems.... |
|
He presents a completely unlikeable image. Bush has gotten unbelieveable mileage out of the fact that many Americans just find him likable. Cheney has none of that going for him. He comes across as a contemptuous, ill-tempered old man. He would not get the no-brainer support that Bush does.

15. If you coopt power (to the exec. branch from congress) |
|
his image no longer matters. He doesn't need support - he just does everything by executive order.

That will scare people more than anything.

12. I think Cheney in hiding is exactly what they are planning (hoping?) |
|
Cheney has been in an undisclosed location since this whole fiasco began. Anyone wondering why? I think (now donning the tin foil hat) it would suit the neocons purpose to have Chimpy out of the way now. Suddenly all the neocons are going on record criticizing the Moran in Chief? Not a fluke.
Think about it. Cheney has been above the fray for a very specific reason. No "missteps" or boo boos or photo ops that will come back to bite him in the butt. He can he held blame free, held harmless, not his fault, would have done things differently etc. yadda, yadda, yadda. You get the picture. Chimpy is a lame duck. The repugs need an incumbent, "war" president with a record for the next election in 2008. Cheney could fill the bill without a lot of money draining, back biting and party destroying smearing within the repug party. President Cheney (gag, oh, lordy, double gag) could run for his own administration that would have the repugs and the Christian Taliban wetting themselves.
Just a thought.

in this country. If Cheney became prez they might just reelect him! No doubt he would engineer some fantastic feat that would pull in voters.
