This fuck-up in New Orleans gives a tremendous boost to the terrorists |
|
Now they know how badly even a minor attack will cripple, panick and destabilize us.
I'm waiting for Osama to send a tape exploiting this moment.

2. If there's an attack, you can bet dollars to donuts... |
|
that Bush will be behind it. Nothing like "terror" to make America rally round the "war president", now is there?

3. This has shown that one strike, |
|
if major and successful, would be horrible.
Two or three easy ones would paralyze this country.
A couple of malls after Thanksgiving and our economy and Security infrastructure would be down the tubes.

resources are stretched so thin, the opportunity for an attack & implementation of Martial Law is nigh.

It'll make it easier to implement Martial Law next time.
I can't stand it.

that an attack just got a whole lot more likely and close since Katrina hit.
Wouldn't it make sense for sleeper cells to pile on more suffering now?

7. It proved that the Department of Homeland Security... |
|
...is just like any company in the private sector.
A congregation of oblivious, highly paid assholes, sitting around preparing nice documents and making speeches and accomplishing JACK SQUAT.
We SUSPECTED IT, now the WORLD knows it.

14. DHS IS a company in the private sector... and it's all about the |

quarterly report.
A short term setback that will lead to massive profits in the next several quarters...

can't find the post-- "My Posts" feature down.
I posed the simple question: Which enboldens the enemy more-- seeing some powerless Democrat criticize Bush, or seeing the entire federal government get caught completely unprepared for a major disaster that everyone was warned about for years?
They must be really excited right now.

10. It shows the world just how incompetent we are to prepare |
|
for eminently predictable (and predicted) hazards and then to deal with them when they arrive. In the past day, to be fair, there's been a big mobilization of ships, trains and other resources to NOLA to help out the folks there, but most of this has been in spite of, not because of the Bush Admin, which has only recently managed to get off its ass on this.
Bush was stupidly mouthing off on World War II V-J day celebrations (as if dropping nukes on innocent Japanese civilians is really something to celebrate in any case-- Dresden and Hiroshima, not exactly our finest hours) right at the time that incontrovertibly obvious evidence was emerging from major news outlets and public sources about the unfolding disaster. Fiddling while NOLA burned and flooded.
And what was Condi Rice doing? Bumming around in NY's Theatre District to Spamalot while people were desperately crying for help due south. They knew what was going down and dragged their feet anyway.
The brutal fact is that maintenance of the dikes and levees is the responsibility of the Army Corps of Engineers, a federal agency, and Bush deliberately slashed funds for levee maintenance efforts in spite of repeated pleas by NOLA authorities to reinforce them. They're not stupid down there-- the surveyors saw that something was dreadfully awry with the dikes and demanded that the Corps be given the resources to do its job and fix the damn things. But no, Bush and the neocons were too busy pissing away US tax dollars on tilting at windmills in Iraq. Idiots. For failing then to spend tens of millions of dollars on the levees, we're going to have to spend tens of billions of dollars to clean up the mess as a consequence.

It seems so blatant that with an airhead incompetent leading FEMA, Michael Brown, that the Bush administration does not care at all about Americans or America. THey are only using everything they can get their hands on for their own corporate agenda. This is a stretch here, but aren't we somewhat comparable having Bush and company running our country, as the Iraqis were with Hussein running their country. Amassing money and getting rid of opponets, - they both operate that way.
