My letter to the WaPo
"I've been watching the coverage of the Katrina aftermath very closely and I'm horrified. The Bush Administration has failed the American public in it's most important duty - to save American lives. I know that Bush doesn't care about the people who are dead and dying in the Gulf Coast, and quite frankly, I don't think he cares about the rest of us, either. The only thing he cares about is containing the political damage of his dereliction of duty.

The American public cares about the people who suffered, who went hungry, who lived in squalor, who DIED for a lack of water. We care about the babies who suffered, who slept on pieces of cardboard outside for days, who died for lack of food and water. We care about the elderly and disabled who were left dead and rotting in the streets. America hurts. We HURT!

When I look at Bush Administration officials now, when I hear their lies, their thinly veiled manipulation of the press to feed the Bush power machine, I literally feel physically ill.

Someone somewhere HAS to care about how we feel! Please don't write about the Bush Administration right now. Not right now, not while we hurt so terribly.

I know that's an unusual request, but we are not living in the America we remember. Everything has changed. And we the people need time to grieve without being forced to face the villain."

Please add your voice to mine.
