As Gov. Goodhair tells evacuees to get lost, is Stage 3 starting?
MSNBC now reporting that Perry has declared Texas too full of evacuees and wants them airlifted out ... to anywhere that will take them.

So what is Stage 3?

Stage 1 .... ignore the hurricane until it displaces a city's poor, black population

Stage 2 .... demean, demoralize, frighten, intimidate and break apart families

Stage 3 .... disperse the population

(I have this huge hurt inside me ... as if I am witnessing first hand the slave runners capturing humans in Africa and transporting them, like so much cord wood, to the slave plantations in the 'new world' ..... and I am sickened by it.)

3. That's a question
That's a question I've been wondering about, where will the people evacuated be allowed to vote if they can't get back to NO by next election. Will they be allowed to change their registration address?

6. you don't have to live here very long to register. But you do have
to have a legal address, so they can assign your precinct, etc. So,if they stay in TX and find a place to live, etc. yeah they could be ready to vote by the time thenext electon cycle rolls around. Good hair is running right now for re election.

IMHO, he is on a tightrope, fine line, razor's edge here:\
opening up Texas and its schools, facilities, etc as emergency shelter makes him look really good, since he has a tough primary race against One Tough Grandma coming up.

Sending them off to other states, splitting family units, etc makes him look bad against OTG, who will no doubt nail him on it.

He did the right thing letting those poor folks come here. Will he continue to do the right thing? ONly time will tell. I have little faith in Goodhair/

9. Isn't their legal address now "Houston Astrodome?"
Don't mean to sound flippant, but hell will be paid if they don't allow these people to vote (those who do vote, I should say.)

5. My city is preparing
to take 10,000. It was reaffirmed in the paper this morning and many people are getting ready for them. I would love to have more Democrats in Kansas thank you!

Those poor people, we have to help them get back what they have lost.

8. Knowing what they know, that will not be a possibility...
The biggest thing tha they have been stripped of is their dignity, and that is something that was ripped away from them. I doubt that any amount of material recovery will ever ease their grief of discovering what this country is REALLY about. :evilfrown:

13. Well we can at least help
them get back on their feet and show them love and kindness. That will help some but I do agree about knowing what this country is really like. That is a grief I have not come to grips with yet.

10. That's the image I keep getting too. What will happen to these people...
will these people(most without I.D., and many isolated from their family members) essentially become "indentured" by the people who help them out in Texas, etc.? Is this a modern day slave trade in disguise of "rescue?" I heard one show suggest that if some of these displaced helped with the "clean-up" effort, they would receive free health care?!! No mention was made of pay, of the fact that many of their health problems are related to the natural disaster, and FEMA's slow response to PROPERLY rescue them and their city.

This whole thing stinks higher than...

11. As you were writing your reply, I was posting this:

and it seems we BOTH see the same possibility.

And I, for one, am scared to death of it.
