somehow he made it through
against all odds
fatherless and poor
they did it
his mother and hers
together - a family
he grew up

and proudly now
a soldier - a son

had we tried peace first
this boy would be saving
the women who raised him
from the insanity down south

we are not peasants
he is not the king

condi rice saw SPAMALOT
on broadway
as our soldiers families
starved on soggy roof tops

OUR united states army
could have saved so many
had they not been sent
to an UN needed war

george bush is not one of us
he never was

This whole week-and-a-half has, in general. I feel like I've literally been sucker-punched. Punched straight in the gut. With the wind knocked out of me.
