To see how bad Feds failed, take New Orleans OUT of the equation |
|
New Orleans is the most horrific and visible failure but make no mistake, the Feds failed EVERYWHERE.
All along the ravaged coast, from Alabama to Mississippi to Louisiana, there was no federal aid for DAYS. Places like Slidell, LA and Biloxi Miss had no food or water or rescue workers, for four days. No flood waters, no "didn't know the levy was going to break" excuses for most of the disaster area, folks. So where was FEMA? Where was the Mississippi National Guard? Even Joe "Red Country" Scarborough wants to know.
Time to take New Orleans out of the microscope and widen the view, my fellow DU'ers. Time to identify, document and question the mind boggling failures in every town, in every city, in every state.

I have been so focused on NO, that I have been giving the other communities only passing thought. This needs to be brought to the attention of other's, not just the believers here.

Sometimes I hear about how great the response in Miss and Bama were and sometimes it wasn't so great. Either way the whole thing was screwed up like you normally have to have several meetings to screw something up that bad (not menat as a conspiracy theory).

That's what Scarborough was so furious about last Thursday night, I think it was, during his MSNBC segment. He had been travelling with an aid convoy (really just a couple of SUVs, I believe) through coastal MS, and at the end of a long day he ranted about having met not a single other first responder, and being told by people he was the first sign of help they'd seen since the storm.
