SANTORUM HURRICANE STATEMENT DEMANDS EXPLANATION
VIDEO
http://media.vmsnews.com/MonitoringReports/090605/54944... I am sure you have been riveted by the devastation and human suffering on the Gulf Coast. When asked about the Hurricane Katrina disaster this weekend on Pittsburgh's ABC affiliate WTAE-TV, Rick Santorum said, "...you have people who don't heed those warnings and then put people at risk as a result of not heeding those warnings. There may be a need to look at tougher penalties on those who decide to ride it out and understand that there are consequences to not leaving." Click here to see the video.
Tougher penalties!? At a time when our country should be coming together, is this another example of Santorum making statements that are inappropriate or out of the mainstream? We deserve an explanation.
NEWSWEEK, NY TIMES COVER CASEY'S IRAQ CHALLENGE
http://www.bobcaseyforpa.com/news.html Since the last update, Bob Casey has been traveling across Pennsylvania talking about the need for change in Washington. The Philadelphia Inquirer, the New York Times, and Newsweek picked up on Bob challenging Rick Santorum's failure to ask tough questions about Iraq. In a classic dog-ate-my-homework response, it took Santorum 10 days to find a single instance were he said something critical about the war in Iraq and he still failed to ask the tough questions!
ON THE ROAD WITH BOB
On Monday, Bob was in the Pittsburgh area attending Labor Day events including the annual picnic hosted by the Washington-Greene Central Labor Council. This week, he will be giving speeches at the Lehigh County Democratic picnic and Chester County Democratic dinner. We are all also looking forward to a fundraising event with Senator Barack Obama next week in Philadelphia. If you need any motivation to get involved in our fundraising efforts, Santorum recently announced he's bringing in Vice President Cheney to raise money for him in Lackawanna County.
http://www.thetimes-tribune.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=15... COLUMNIST GOP TIES EXPOSED
The right-wing Pittsburgh Tribune-Review recently published a guest column by Salena Zito criticizing Bob Casey. There's one big problem. The Trib failed to clearly identify Zito. Zito worked for Santorum's campaign and is a former Allegheny County Republican committeewoman (and not exactly as bi-partisan as she claimed). Oops!
