Dowd has the best line to describe Bush.....
>snip> Let's play the blame game: the man who benefited more than anyone in history from safety nets set up by family did not bother to provide one for those who lost their families.

http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/07/opinion/07dowd.html

As usual, clever use of language to make a stunningly obvious point....

7. Good cartoon, I would have made one change
The Black people would be huddled in a makeshift shelter, watching Bush on teevee as he's surrounded by doctors, nurses, and other folks who would be much more use to the people in the shelter than they are standing behind Chimpy.

No way Bush would ever talk to someone like that face-to-face, and surely not where he would risk danger to his Chimperial Majesty by actually getting into the muck he helped create.

6. Do any of you read Frank Rich from the NYT?
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 10:23 AM by MintOreoCookie
He has an amazing writing ability just like Maureen Dowd. Here is the article from this Sunday: http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/04/opinion/04rich.html?n=Top%2fOpinion%2fEditorials%20and%20Op%2dEd%2fOp%2dEd%2fColumnists%2fFrank%20Rich

He slams Bush so well!

My two favorite sentences:
On Thursday morning, the president told Diane Sawyer that he hoped "people don't play politics during this period of time." . . .
But a president who flew from Crawford to Washington in a heartbeat to intervene in the medical case of a single patient, Terri Schiavo, has no business lecturing anyone about playing politics with tragedy.

9. Its amazing how this woman goes from hero to devil and back
And I'm as guilty as anyone of that vacillation. In the end, I suppose, she's just one who calls 'em as she sees 'em. And yanno, that's okay. In fact, for the media, that is the perfect way to do it. I admit I **want** a lefty media to counter Faux, et al. But wanting that and needing that are two different things. What we **need** is an **honest** media.

11. I don't think so - most of what she called on Gore was utter crap.
Which reminds me, has she apologized for her role in coup 2k yet?
Don't get me wrong, I appreciate this new leaf. But without a formal apology I'll never be a fan.
If she has apologized and I missed it, then it'll be my turn to apologize. I will be happy to.
A lot of journalists feel they have to bash equally, even when they have to make up stuff to make it equal.
I think that is fallacious reasoning.

12. She is a national treasure....
A great satirist who understands the nuance of words and is so in touch with the zeitgeist that she can turn a phrase with meaning and zing.....

10. This guy is the poster child for your Dynastic Peter Principle ...
What a incompetent man! What's even more pathetic than watching him pose for photo ops is the intellectual Right Wingers trying to spin all of his failures into "a positive."

It's beginning NOT to work ... I just hope those from The Heritage Foundation and the American Enterprise Institute Cronies can prevent their heads from exploding given they're now filled with a seemingly endless flow of bullsh*t. :P
