John G. Roberts: Stuck on Stupid
Mr. Roberts is smart enough to know that with less than 3 years experience as a judge of any kind, he is extremely underqualified to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Yet he is stupid enough not to care.

1. One thing he is not...
... is stupid. Never underestimate.

As for judicial experience, he's got more than some. His mentor, Rehnquist, had no judicial experience at all, when he was nominated to the court. Neither did Lewis Powell--he'd spent his life as a corporate lawyer. Earl Warren had extensive experience as a county prosecutor and had been California attorney general, but he never served as a judge, either.

Given the history of the court, the issues ought to be Roberts' lackadaisical attitude toward professional ethics and his prior extremist opinions, not his lack of judicial experience--the latter gets ignored right away.

Cheers.

2. The attention is on abortion while the real goal is environmental laws
The gop has really taken advantage of the Protestants with their machinations.

3. I don't think that is a true statement at its face.
Earl Warren was appointed Chief Justice without ever being a judge.

And he turned out to be one of the greatest jurists to sit on the SCOTUS of all times.

I'm sure that won't be the case with Roberts, but of everything I'm sure to disagree with him on, I cannot criticize his qualifications.

4. So,
is someone going to ask him what he thinks about the current interpretation of Presidential "recess" appointment powers relative to what the Constitution actually says:

"Clause 3: The President shall have Power to fill up all Vacancies that may happen during the Recess of the Senate, by granting Commissions which shall expire at the End of their next Session."
