CNN poll: 63 percent say don't fire any federal officials
How many gallons of Kool Aid do you have to drink to tell a pollster you think Bush is doing a great job in this disaster?

http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/09/07/katrina.poll/index.html

Opinions varied widely, however, on the response of federal, state and local officials regarding Katrina. Forty-two percent of respondents characterized President Bush's response to the disaster as "bad" or "terrible," while 35 percent said it was "good" or "great."

Federal government agencies' response was described as "bad" or "terrible" by 42 percent, and "good" or "great" by 35 percent. State and local officials' response was described as "bad" or "terrible" by 35 percent and "good" or "great" by 37 percent.

Respondents also disagreed widely on who is to blame for the problems in the city following the hurricane -- 13 percent said Bush, 18 percent said federal agencies, 25 percent blamed state or local officials and 38 percent said no one is to blame. And 63 percent said they do not believe anyone at federal agencies responsible for handling emergencies should be fired as a result.

16. I thought about NZ too after 11/04
I have in-laws there, though, who informed us that there is a growing religious-right movement there that is making serious inroads.

I'm focusing on Canada or Spain

19. Good luck getting a jobe in the EU.
The have laws that penalize companies for hiring non-EU citizens, unless the company can prove that the job couldn't be adequately performed by an EU resident. Otherwise, I'd be teaching English in Spain by the end of the year.

2. Call the AstroDome - ask people who were there
The numbers will get worse for Bush and the idiots he hired.

3. FEMA hasn't even shown up in St. Tammany Parish
other than to set up an ice distribution center.

Is that pathetic or what? The eye of Katrina passed right over the eastern end of St. Tammany, which is just north of Lake Pntchartrain.

20. around 1,000
It's difficult to make generalizations about the population as a whole, when your sample is around half of what it should be.

21. The margin of error would have been 3.1% compared to 3.95%
Not a very big difference.

6. You are being lied to America. You are being lied to America.
The polls are lies just like everything else coming from the Administration.

7. Was this taken before the leaked internal FEMA memo?
These polls are meaningless in such a fast changing situation.

Oprah's program yesterday will awaken the middle class women who in turn will share with their SOs.

Just as America woke up to the Iraq war, they will awaken to the debacle of Katrina.

Tragically, the death toll will be so massive the country will be outraged.

10. Absolutely
It is diametrically opposed to the Rasmussen poll that came out a day or two ago.

11. Freepers are working overtime
They have nothing else to do now, except to try to salvage the regime they so wanted, and the rest of the country is too outraged to bother with CNN's stupid polls ~ that 600 or so votes, probably represents the Bush Misadministration's entire support right now.

14. Personally...
I would have voted "don't fire any fed officials". Anything less then impeachment is unexceptable. Firing officials gets Bush off the hook. He makes heads roll and looks like the big hero.

17. Time will tell, folks. Time will tell.
I read on one site that one body recovery person was telling a make shift mortuary to prepare for 40,000 bodies. I'd say if the body count goes over 10,000 the opinion of the American people will drastically change and if it does approach 40k, hell will be to pay.

However, be aware of this trick - watch the GOP claim a large number of bodies are the disinterred. (This official stated th 40k number DID NOT include the disinterred.)

Too bad Bush keeps fooling them over and over again.

As the saying goes, "Fool me once - shame on you. Fool me another time, sh... uh... don't get fooled again..."
