MSNBC: GOP wants "bi-partisan Katrina panel"...in SIX MONTHS
Just now, on MSNBC.

Frist supposedly threw the idea out there.

NO Democrats were consulted.

Results wouldn't start coming in until February 2006. The premise is the Karl Rove talking point "let's help people now and talk later."

Details to follow, I'm sure.

1. Congress can't walk and chew gum at the same time? But they will have time
to try and repeal the estate tax.

3. Our Government is dysfunctional.
This Government of ours can try to impeach a President who has a great economy going, he’s keeping us safe, he’s working for the majority of the people, he IS competent and intelligent, fast on his feet in times of need, and can actually, as President, hold a conversation (including receiving questions from opponents and answering them) because of a personal matter like a blow job? However, when Bush fails us in such a colossal and public way (which is apparently obvious to everyone but Bush and those working for him) he is not to be removed from office? That said, if that turns out to be true, then our Federal Government has ceased to function. I mean some of us have doubted for some time that this administration was functional but it will be so incredibly, blatantly obvious to everyone that it is no longer working. Hmm. That could make some “folks” (as Bush likes to call them) extremely angry!

10. I know EXACTLY why, too. It's very simple
That would mean the results wouldn't come out until AFTER the 2006 elections.

11. Actually, I believe the date for final report is 2/6/06 which is 5 months
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 04:40 PM by DemsUnited
Personally, would like to see results a little sooner than that but don't believe that 5 months is that outrageous to do a decent job.

WAY more concerning to me is the shut out of Democrats.

14. I said "6" because they didn't specify when in February...
But the bigger concern is that MSNBC called this Frist's little brainchild, and that he didn't consult ANY Dems.

15. Saw actual news conference on CNN and pretty sure I heard the date 2/6/06
But you are 200% right, the real issue is that this a Repug move to cover up and they are trying to shut the Dems out.

16. "Help now/talk later" -- They're talking PLENTY!!!
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 05:13 PM by Sparkly
It's so ironic! It's not like they're too busy delivering water and medicine to people -- their JOB is supposedly to protect this country, and there are clearly incompetents at the helm. They need to be rooted out ASAP -- no time to waste.

Remember "not IF but WHEN?" So we're in such danger, and they're keeping Brownie and Chertoff onboard?

Meanwhile, they're doing nothing BUT talk -- except they're talking about how they can't be talking.
