1. ddi you ever think they were anything else? |
|
Know what's funny? The large families (you know, the ones that "chose life" just like the fundies want) will be the ones most hurt. And those fundies will think that is just fine because they are "all lazy anyway"...

8. I do have a concern with the debit cards... |
|
if you just hand someone who has been extremely poor their whole life two thousand dollars, you are telling them to go off the deep end due to lack of experience...not stupidity. So you may say I'm generalizing and ignorant....okay, perhaps not everyone will screw up, but many will. I can make the same generalization about people who win lotteries...many screw up and lose everything. Secondly, how will people in shelters protect themselves from the thugs that are still there? They will all know that they have a money card. I think this is a strangely conceived idea....I'd rather see t hem in housing and given a furniture voucher, clothes voucher etc.

3. My guess is, in order to get the card, they will be asked |
|
to sign a waiver of their right to sue Bush and/or the government at a later date. And, knowing the Bushies, they will also forfeit any cash settlements further down the road, if there are any.

5. Debit cards after Ivan went to individuals and families. But the amount |
|
was based on how many with a cap of four, I think. If you were on food stamps, you could not apply.

A husband gets a card and tries to use it only to find out his wife has already maxed out the card and he cannot find out where she is (or visa versa). I bet you it happens.

9. Just like what we did to "welfare reform" |
|
Is everyone aware that "welfare reform" in the 90s meant that NO individuals without children in the houselhold may EVER receive ANY cash assistance? Individuals may apply for food stamps, or Medicaid, or for some services like child care. But not cash assistance.
We have destroyed all grounds for calling ourselves a civilized society.
