Hell in the Work Place
Edited on Wed Sep-07-05 06:50 PM by Geek_Girl
Working in a cubicle office environment you can't help but overhear peoples conservations. When the NO started flooding I overheard my manager say "they need to shoot the looters." Today I overheard someone complaining about Jesse Jackson. I've read op ed's from a local news website complaining about evacuees coming to our town. I'm pissed off to and I don't think I can take seeing one more Bush sticker, or here one more comment from co-workers with racist overtones. I can't take it anymore I feel like I'm going to explode.

3. If they can make racist comments
Why can't you say that you think the comments bare racist? Is one any less offensive than the other? If someone makes a racist comment to you, just say that you think it is racist to say that.

I stared at the woman who made that declaration and said, "So which one would you shoot first--the one taking the Huggies, or the one taking the baby formula?"

She looked stricken and shut up immediately--but not sure if it was because she was digesting what I'd asked, or was practicing caution in the face of having me, a black woman, looking back at her with the wrath of God in my eyes.
